Senate wants update on PNP's missing food allowance
By Dennis Carcamo (philstar.com) | Updated July 8, 2015 - 3:44pm

MANILA, Philippines - The Senate has asked the Philippine National Police (PNP) to update the body on the alleged missing food allowance funds for police officers deployed during the visit of Pope Francis last January.

In a letter dated July 6, Senate Blue Ribbon Committee Chair Teofisto Guingona III asked to PNP officer-in-charge Leonardo Espina to give an update on what happened to the PNP’s probe on the incident.

One of the contenders to be the next PNP chief, Police Director Ricardo Marquez, the directorate for operations, was in charge of the Task Force Papal Visit.

Guingona said based on reports, some police officers who went on duty during the Papal visit were only given P700 as food allowance instead of P2,400 as allotted.
