Navy has a standing order, China can't build structure in Recto Bank

"They're not only patrolling in the area, they are also installing their own markers. While they're continuously putting up their own maritime markers at Recto Bank, we are also continuously blasting them," a security official told Philippine Star.

According to report, the Philippine Navy in mid-July launched an operation to remove markers in Recto Bank placed by China.

"In accordance with the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea, the Philippines has the exclusive sovereign rights over the Reed bank. No other state is lawfully entitled to assert sovereignty or sovereign rights over the said area," DFA said in a recent statement by Department of Foreign Affairs regarding Recto Bank.

A Naval officer said they have a standing order not to allow building of any foreign structures in the Philippine controlled maritime territory.

"It would be a different story if anybody or groups will force their way into Recto Bank. We will not allow it."

^Standing Order is great, for now, but how will PN execute these orders when China starts calling their moves..??
Remember, our PN can't even do anything to scare away those CMS "white ships" that are harassing our supplies for our troops and People in Pag-asa and Ayungin Shoal or least escort them to safety... :dunno: ARE WE SUPPOSE TO BELIEVE THEM NOW?

Last time I checked, our own PCG in Batanes who done a great job in Policing, upholding PH sovereignty, chasing intruders up in the North of PH ended up got prosecuted, persecuted by the present PH Govt.
So, maybe, it will just only take a little time for our PN to commit a mistake by hurting any of those Chinese intruders in KIG or even near Recto Bank area and they will face the wrath & prosecution of their own Govt as well... :armyskeptic:

They've mentioned a something about "continuously blasting maritime markers". That is the action to the current "Chinese" moves.

Will there be an escalation from the Chinese? Most likely....
What will be your response then? Whatever it is is entirely left to our/your speculation. I am sure they wouldn't give even the tiniest of hints as to what they will or will not do. Certainly not for our "digestion".

Unfortunately, whatever moves the Chinese supposedly will "call" or not "call" is only subject to our/your speculation.

Such is the agony... :armycry:

I agree w/ you Bro. Hong! Still, only our (present) PH Govt. again again, continues to rewrite it's own history, superseding protocols, stand ops, the Norm, procedures of the World, particularly in handling external defense problems & issues, solutions(?) foreign Policy etc., always in passive approach, NOT the usual thing to do.

a) Relying too much on our Allies combined with not doing anything personal to prepare for any eventuality & be ready to protect our own interests can produce catastrophic results in the long term.

Excerpts: from Former Pres. FM - "For while we have faith with our Allies, our Allies also have their own personal interests that may sometimes conflict with ours.." Which is very true indeed!

In the end, we are the BIG losers, if we don't "learn how" and "to have the means" to stand on our own

blowing up of bully markers, scafoldings, buoys by the AFP have been going on since the mischief reef crisis. there are things the bully does that the AFP lets pass and there are things that are 'red lines' . one of the destroyed markers was the length of the luneta flagpole

China rejects protest on ships, complains of detentions
Reuters
August 20, 2014

BEIJING (Reuters) - China rejected Philippine complaints on Wednesday about Chinese survey vessels operating in a gas-rich area of the Philippines' exclusive economic zone and has a separate complaint about the detention of Chinese workers, as tensions persist.

In a statement faxed to Reuters, China's Foreign Ministry said that Reed Bank was Chinese territory:

"Survey activities being carried out by Chinese survey ships are appropriate, legal and beyond reproach."

Palace bucks bilateral approach in resolving sea row
By Aurea Calica (The Philippine Star)
August 23, 2014

A bilateral solution with China over the West Philippine Sea dispute is still out of the question despite increased encroachments of Chinese ships in Philippine waters, Malacanang maintained yesterday.

"I think the Philippine government will not cease in filing and availing itself of the legal and diplomatic means in resolving this dispute. We have filed a diplomatic protest. It's not a question of whether they will heed the diplomatic protest. What is important is that the Philippine government continues to assert its right against its neighbors. And we will continue to do so, and for that particular reason, we have availed ourselves of the diplomatic and arbitration channels in resolving this dispute with China."

"We
cannot have a bilateral discussion with them because it's a dispute that involves more than two parties. But suffice it to say that we are cognizant of the situation in the West Philippine Sea and we will take measures to ensure the safety of our Filipino brethren."

- Edwin Lacierda, presidential spokesman

The Philippines was acting on the Chinese incursions but would not tell the media what their plans were.

Recto Bank is part of Philippine territory and not within the disputed portions of the South China Sea, which the government calls West Philippine Sea.
