Very unfortunate...but perhaps she had some health problems that she hid from authorities.

A 25-year-old female recruit of the Police Regional Office 9 (PRO9) died in hospital while undergoing medical treatment when she became pale and weak after finishing a three-kilometer run as part of the prescribed physical agility test at the grounds at Camp R. Abendan in Barangay Mercedes, Zamboanga City.

Inspector Dhalan Samuddin, officer-in-charge of PRO9 Public Information Office, identified the fatality as Marichel Arcillas, a resident of Barangay Bella, Alicia, Zamboanga Sibugay.

“Arcillas died at around 6:35 p.m. on May 8 at Zamboanga City Medical Center,” Samuddin disclosed, adding that PRO9 will soon be releasing the official investigation report from the Regional Investigation and Detection Management.

it could be either she hid an ailment or it was not diagnosed or seen by the PE doctor. they should be thorough with these matters, its a matter of life and death. 3km is nothing, but its a big deal when you have a heart / acute respiratory condition

rip to marichel archillas :salute:

The team leader of the fitness program should have required them to be examined first by a doctor to ensure that all participants are fit for the exercise. It is an SOP otherwise it boils down to negligence. Somebody has to answer and be liable for the death.
