and take a closer look at that plane that flew above.. isn't it a US navy plane?

Yea, pretty clear it's one of those new P-8A Poseidons
I think that's what made those China Coast Guard ships back off and not even use their squirt guns. Our Uncle Sam was watching. :rifle: With all the media people aboard the PH ship and up in the sky plus the Poseidon loitering around, this was a planned endeavor and just caught the CCG flat footed this time for the whole world to see their bullying. First pics of the CCG brand new ships in action (they're huge, fast and nimble). Well done PH! God speed to the Marines who will be on duty for the next few months. :ssalute:

Blockade evaded

Posted Image

The Chinese ships cannot follow to the shallow part because their ships are too big. The BFAR boat is 31 meters long; the Chinese ships are thrice as big.

By 2:13 p.m., when we manage to put some distance from the Chinese. The Navy personnel hoists a tiny Philippine flag on the mast of the ship. We all start cheering.

But when the Chinese ships were blocking our path, I was almost close to tears. It felt like a David versus Goliath moment.

Still, while all this was happening, we could see several planes flying above us, nationality undetermined. We had a feeling our friends were watching over us.

Philippine Marines raise the Philippine flag on the dilapidated navy ship LT57 BRP Sierra Madre at the disputed Ren'ai Reef in the South China Sea on Sunday. On Saturday, China Coast Guard attempted to block the Philippine government vessel AM700 carrying fresh troops and supplies, but the latter managed to dock beside the ship to replace troops who were deployed several months ago. A Philippine national flag flutters in the wind aboard the BRP Sierra Madre on the disputed Second Thomas Shoal, part of the Spratly Islands, in the South China Sea on March 29, 2014. According to local media, two Chinese Coast Guard vessels on Saturday tried to block a Philippine government civilian ship from bringing troops and supplies to the military detachment. Marine Lt. Mike Pelotera holds his Bronze Cross Medal at the AFP Western Command headquarters in Palawan on Monday, March 31. Pelotera was one of the nine-man unit awarded with medals for their five-month mission manning the country's remote 'outpost' on Ayungin Shoal in the disputed Spratly Islands. Manila on March 30 filed a formal plea to the UN challenging Beijing's claim to the entire South China Sea, parts of which are being claimed by the Philippines. AFP/Jay Directo

The BRP Sierra Madre. This WWII ship has seen better days and it’s hard not to judge it by its present condition, but rusty as it is, it holds its ground to assert the country’s sovereignty over at Ayungin Shoal.(Photo from Reuters Erik De Castro)

We should convert all our WHECs into Coast Guard ships so that we will not militarize our claim. After all these ships were originally Coast Guard vessel with the Americans.
