Thai among cadets beginning training at PMA

FORT DEL PILAR, Bguio City – Eighteen year old Thai lad Pongpeera Disapirom joined this year’s more than 300 cadets that were welcomed to the Philippine Military Academy Tuesday noon.

Three-hundred forty six young men and women composing class of 2018 were received at the “Beast Barracks”, a rites of passage for incoming plebes, said Maj. Lynette Flores, PMA spokesperson.

The Thai cadet is the first foreign student in the PMA since 2001.

BAGUIO CITY -- A total of 282 cadets graduated from the Philippine Military Academy (PMA) in its graduation ceremonies Sunday in Fort Del Pilar, Baguio City.

Of this number, 75 members of the PMA Alab Tala Class of 2018 are female, the biggest number in 25 years since the academy started accepting female applicants.

Three females are also included in the top 10 of the class. They were Cadet 1st class Leonore Andrea Carino Japitan from Butuan City, who finished number 4; Jezaira Laquinon Buenaventura of Bais, Negros Occidental; and Micah Quiambao Reynaldo of Bamban, Tarlac.

BAGUIO CITY - The valedictorian of the Philippine Military Academy (PMA) Class of 2018 will receive a house and lot from real estate tycoon and former Senate President Manny Villar, according to an announcement at the graduation ceremony here Sunday.

The master of ceremony made the announcement as President Rodrigo Duterte awarded the presidential saber to Cadet First Class Jaywardene Galilea Hontoria, who topped 282 mistahs of the "Alab Tala" Class of 2018.

PMA information officer Lt. Col. Reynaldo Balido confirmed that the house and lot given to Hontoria was from Villar.
