MANILA, Philippines – Weeks after it was jolted by revelations of shenanigans in the conduct of operations against illegal drug syndicates, the Pampanga provincial police command has a new chief. Senior Supt. Manuel Gaerlan has been appointed officer-in-charge of the Pampanga Provincial Police Office, Police Regional Office 3 (PRO3) Chief Supt. Raul Petransata announced on Thursday.

Petrasanta explained that the outgoing chief, Senior Supt. Oscar Albayalde, was relieved from his post “to further pave the way for the ongoing investigation regarding the alleged irregularities in the conduct of anti-illegal drugs operation by the raiding team from Pampanga Anti-illegal Drugs Operations Special Operations Task Group (PAIDSOTG) on November 29, 2013 in Narra St., Woodbrige Subdivision, Lakeshore, Mexico, Pampanga.”

Albayalde, who served the Pampanga police for 10 months, was relieved for command responsibility and “will be placed under the Regional Personnel Holding and Accounting Unit awaiting his new assignment,” Petrasanta said.
