You can’t expect me to jet ski to disputed territories —Duterte | GMA news - October 17, 2016 3:58pm
Quote:

President Rodrigo Duterte has said there was no way he would have ridden a jet ski to the disputed Scarborough Shoal as he proclaimed in a debate during the presidential campaign earlier this year.

In an interview with Al Jazeera that aired over the weekend, Duterte said it was a hyperbole to drive home the point that he would not give up any of the country's claims in the South China Sea.

"It was a hyperbole... You cannot expect me to ride (a jet ski), I don't even know how to swim," Duterte said when asked why he has yet to deliver on the campaign promise to ride out in a jet ski to the disputed territories and plant the Philippine flag there.

"If it overturns you lose a president," he added.

South China Sea looms over Duterte visit | Inquirer.net -Agence France-Presse / 03:42 PM October 19, 2016
Quote:

Duterte has said his trip will focus on promoting economic ties. Foreign affairs spokesman Charles Jose has said: “There will be a lot, I mean a lot, of business contracts that will be signed.”

In an editorial Tuesday, China’s nationalistic Global Times newspaper called on the government to “reciprocate Duterte’s overture” by giving the Philippines access to fishing grounds near Scarborough Shoal — a move which would imply that such rights were China’s to give.

“Filipino fishermen fish on a shoestring and are unlikely to jeopardize the ecosystem of China’s waters,” the paper said.

AMID SEA DISPUTE

China never invaded a piece of PHL over generations - Duterte

October 19, 2016

BEIJING-Visiting Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte had praise for China on Wednesday, setting aside a maritime dispute as the combative leader reconfigures his country's diplomatic alliances.

The Asian giant was "good", he said.

"It has never invaded a piece of my country all these generations," Duterte added in an apparent comparison to the Philippines' former colonial ruler the United States.

"During the Cold War, China was portrayed as the bad guy," he added. "And all of these years, what we have read in our books in school were all propaganda produced by the West."

To my commander-in-chief, did you read the Philippine property ng Spratly's and Scrarborough Shoal? Did you read the constitution it was ratified and internationally-recognized that the ISLANDS China has occupied are "Philippine-property"? You're a lawyer, mr. Commander-In-Chief. Pls. uphold the Philippine Law and the International Law. China seizing PH islands and water areas in 1990's and also in 2014 and until now is INVASION itself, a soft-invasion methods.

Anak ka na put-a-little-more. Tang-inumin mo hwag itlog. Pls. huwag kang paka-bulag or magpaka-T4ng4.
I will not be shocked if you will be ousted instead of doing more harm in the PH sovereignty.

Duterte allows Xi to take lead on South China Sea issue | Philstar - October 20, 2016
Quote:

Vera Files reported Wednesday, quoting a Malacañang source that Duterte “will take up the South China Sea issue “if raised” in his four-eyes meeting with Xi on October 20. He will not initiate to raise the issue of the arbitral ruling but will respond if mentioned. However, his key message on the matter of Scraborough shoal will be asserting the fishing rights of Filipinos there, but while this is his wish ‘he will listen and will not make any imposition on the Chinese side.’”

Duterte wrong on China non-invasion – Carpio | Philstar - October 24, 2016

Quote:

Expert in international law, Carpio called on the government immediately to correct Duterte’s history lapse, lest it be taken against the Philippines. The jurist extensively has researched the South China Sea dispute, and was among those who brought the Philippine case for UN arbitration. The UN court has rubbished China’s alleged right to occupy Scarborough, off the coast of Luzon and well outside China’s territorial or economic zone waters.

Following is Carpio’s lament:

Well, there are four (4) things:
(1) Dutraitor is making himself and the people $tup1d on the real situation.
(2) Dutraitor is making himself and the people have a blind eye on the real situation.
(3) Dutraitor is so $tup1d enough not to read and understand the real situation.
(4) Dutraitor is so $tup1d not to look into facts due to his favoritism of communism/socialist ideology.

Duterte’s ‘off the cuff’ South China Sea statements ‘not binding’ - Yasay
By: Lira Dalangin-Fernandez, InterAksyon.com
October 25, 2016 8:59 AM

MANILA, Philippines -- Anything President Rodrigo Duterte says “off the cuff” on the territorial disputes in the South China Sea is “not binding” and will not affect the country’s claims, Foreign Affairs Secretary Perfecto Yasay said.

“Lahat ng sasabihin ni President Duterte off the cuff sa kanyang (everything President Duterte says off the cuff in his interviews), that is not binding,” Yasay said in an interview over radio station dzMM.

Yasay said the country’s foreign policy is to enforce the decision of the Permanent Court of Arbitration “within the confines of our Constitution … and without compromising our claims.”

He was reacting to a statement by Senior Associate Justice Antonio Carpio to an interview given by Duterte to Channel News Asia, which was posted in the outfit’s website on October 19. Carpio’s reaction was reported in the Philippine Star column of Jarius Bondoc.

According to CCTV, a point of interest. At 1:38 of the video check out the map:

"All of which have been undeniably Chinese territory since ancient times."

But since I know this man personally, it's most likely a joke.
