I think China is holding on to Scarborough in exchange for the Ph becoming more 'neutral'. Thus no more joint patrol and joint exercises. Whatever happens, the Ph should not let go of mutual defence treaty with the US. This shall serve as 'insurance'. Let's see what would result from Duterte's China visit.

This is ass to mouth way of thinking.. A Looney :armyLol:

It's the same with making China the Main Partner/ Investor for the Philippines in replacement for the US, EU etc., when they have gravely violated PH Sovereignty, implanted problems inside the the Country, corrupted the Filipinos with Illegal Drug Problems that's menacing the Country..???

I am appauled how his supporters together with his merry bunch of Politikos behind him are too blind to see all of these simple details?

I guess. "Beijing Money" talks! Sigh..

How I really wish we could Elect someone like Justice Carpio to be the President of RP.
Dutraydor SUPOTers have blinkers like the one used in race horses so that they wouldn't see what is happening around them! :lollol:

The Philippines Is About to Give Up the South China Sea to China

BY STEVE MOLLMAN

In 2013 the Philippines opened a case under UNCLOS against China and the tribunal ruled in favor of the Philippines and rejected China’s sweeping claims, invalidating the nine-dash line. Filipinos celebrated - but by that time Duterte was in power.

Instead Duterte, after years of the Philippines building its legal argument and winning, appears set to essentially reverse course and give China Scarborough Shoal after all.

The about-face plays right into the long-standing viewin China that the Philippines is a weak country that should respect the regional superpower.

China has expressed satisfaction with the Philippines’ changing stance under Duterte.

Some have called Beijing’s strategy in the South China Sea “salami slicing.” Scarborough Shoal was one of the larger slices it’s taken in recent years. Thanks to Duterte, it looks set to get away with it—and to be rewarded for acting aggressively at sea.

“We cannot win that,” he said during a speech this week. “Even if we get angry, we’ll just be putting on airs. We can’t beat [China].”

DUTRAYDOR doesn't even have balls and tried defending it and bullied friendly nations to get out!!! A sorry state happening in the government. But then again, if he continues this kind of behaviour, the junior officers of the AFP will come into play...we all just wait! :rifle:

Carpio: With Malampaya gas gone in 10 years, PH must assert EEZ control in West PH Sea
By: Tricia Aquino, InterAksyon.com
October 14, 2016 6:09 PM

MANILA - The Philippines must assert its claim over its exclusive economic zone (EEZ) now more than ever, as it has to begin looking for a substitute to the Malampaya gas field, which supplies 40 percent of Luzon's energy, and will run out of gas in 10 years.

This is according to Supreme Court Senior Associate Justice Antonio Carpio, who lectured on the Permanent Court of Arbitration's ruling on the West Philippine Sea territorial dispute on Friday at “Brewing at AIM: Conversations with Thought Leaders” at the Asian Institute of Management in Makati City.

“We will have rotating brownouts in Luzon if we don't develop a replacement area, a substitute area, and that substitute area is really the Reed Bank.”

Not sure anymore where Duterte stands. He says one thing, then contradicts it with another. Or Yasay and other subordinates say something different to what their boss says. ANG GULOOOO! :headbang:

Duterte won’t compromise PH stand on West Philippine Sea
President to sign economic agreements with China

By: Gil Cabacungan / @gilcabacungan
Philippine Daily Inquirer / 01:33 AM October 16, 2016

President Rodrigo Duterte will not enter into any agreement with China which will be prejudicial to the country’s interest in the West Philippine Sea, declared Presidential Spokesperson Ernesto Abella.

Abella made the assurance amid a warning from Associate Justice Antonio Carpio that Mr. Duterte could face impeachment if he “concedes our sovereignty of Scarborough shoal.”

The President had earlier referred to Scarborough Shoal as a “fishpond” which was outside the country’s 22-kilometer territory. He has said that fighting a war with China for Scarborough was unwinnable and that he would rather sit down and get trade, investments, aid and loans from Chin

What my commander-in-chief either cannot or does not want to comprehend, is that Scarborough Shoal is within Philippine Sovereignty. It means, we have the rights more, than the Chinese, to utilize the area. However, China is claiming it all as their property. It is not about going to war with China. It is about asserting our sovereignty. The President, my commander-in-chief should not allow China to control the whole area. He is doing what FVR did...allowing Chinese occupation. He is doing what GMA did...allowing Chinese control + allowing China occupation. This is a double-jeopardy. It's treason.

It is not about going to war with China. It is about asserting our sovereignty. He must make use of the UNCLOS ruling, as the primary rule by China disclaiming our own backyard.

Duterte to raise South China Sea ruling with Beijing, says won't 'barter away' territory
By: Reuters | Agence France-Presse
October 16, 2016 5:59 PM

MANILA, Phililppines - (UPDATE, 8:04 P.M) President Rodrigo Duterte said on Sunday he would raise a controversial arbitral ruling on the South China Sea with China's leaders, and vowed not to surrender any sovereignty or deviate from the July award by the tribunal in The Hague.

Duterte said his trip to China this week represented a turning point in bilateral ties, but he acknowledged there was some public concern about his rapid rapprochement moves and reassured Filipinos that would not impact on the country's maritime sovereignty.

In comments that will not sit comfortably with the Chinese leadership, Duterte said the decision by the Permanent Court of Arbitration would be talked about and the parameters of the award would be discussed, but there would be no "hard imposition" of it.

Sir, based on what I have read so far in this forum, I think most of us know this.

But the thing is -- we all know, the forum does not represent what the public thinks. On my part, I am trying to educate people, at least those close to me who are Mang Kanor supporters, but they seem to not understand, or worse refuse to understand.

Mang Kanor and his trolls do not need some elaborate plan to deceive, the general public doesn't care, present the problem in a simple way, where there are only two answers, and the common Pinoy wouldn't bother looking for another answer besides the given choices.
