"warmer relations?" Still no sign of China backing off its preconditions :dunno:

"Warmer relations" to Beijing means kowtowing or bowing down to their will. :headbang:

Philippines needs US in sea row with China: Duterte

Duterte said he never told US troops to get out of the country, but they might be asked to leave Mindanao “at some time in the future.”
“I never said get out of the Philippines. After all, kailangan natin sila dyan sa China Sea. Wala naman tayong armament [After all, we need them in the China Sea. We don’t have armaments],” Duterte said in a speech at an army camp in Compostela Valley province.

Duterte to visit China to press for PH fishing rights

By: Nestor Corrales

09:13 PM September 22nd, 2016

“YOU will see me more often in China.”

So said President Rodrigo Duterte on Thursday during a speech at the inauguration of a power plant in Misamis Oriental as he revealed that he would hold talks with Beijing officials on an urgent matter: fishing rights.

“One of the things that I would demand if I go to the mainland China is, ‘Give us back our fishing rights.’ That’s one,” he said.

Why not DEMAND for the return of what is Legally hours, like the whole thing since it is really ours. this sounds like the Philippines have already conceded our rights over our territory. The last time I checked, we won the case over those territories, but our perfect President (as his die hards would prefer to believe) will visit the bully with tail tightly tucked in between his legs and ASK FOR FISH. I really find it strange, why he is so SUBSERVIENT with China and curses the whole world for what he perceives as a slight disrespect for his being President. I just couldn't imagine any country who has disrespected us more than China, but a chronic curser like him seems to find this thieves UNCURSABLE. Why?

Duterte wants China to return PHL's right to fish in West Philippine Sea
By: Jelly F. Musico, Philippines News Agency
September 22, 2016 11:28 PM

MANILA, Philippines -- President Rodrigo Duterte said Thursday he will visit China within the year to ask them to return to the Philippines its fishing rights in the disputed West Philippine Sea (WPS).

“One of the things that I would demand if I go to mainland China is give us back our fishing rights," Duterte said in his speech during the inauguration of the Filinvest Development Corp. Misamis Power Plant in Misamis Oriental.

President Duterte said he has no plan to ignore the UN international arbitral tribunal's ruling in favor of the Philippines’ arbitration case filed against China’s nine-dash line claim that almost covers the entire South China Sea.

This would be a major test for Duterte's independent foreign policy and engagement with China. If nothing happens with the fishing rights, Duterte should give more focus on external defence.

The bully will surely lough if a victim who has recently won it's case make such a lowly request. it could be seen as waving your rights. Demanding everything due to you even if you know it wont be granted, is a clear message that you are actively claiming what is rightfully yours.

Sun rises 'beautifully' on Philippines ties: China envoy
By: Agence France-Presse
September 28, 2016 8:48 PM

MANILA, Philippines - Relations between China and the Philippines are improving "beautifully" under President Rodrigo Duterte, Beijing's envoy has said as Duterte warms to China and Russia following US criticism of his bloody war on crime.

Ambassador Zhao Jianhua offered effusive praise for Duterte in a speech at an embassy reception late Tuesday, saying China "firmly supports" his anti-drugs campaign that has prompted Western condemnation of alleged extrajudicial killings.

Duterte has rejected the criticism, including by long-time security ally the United States, and said he would seek closer economic ties with China and Russia.

Duterte says PH can’t win in Scarborough Shoal

Inquirer

“I have a good feeling that we will be OK with them. But first let’s not touch the Scarborough Shoal issue because we cannot win that,” he said.

“Even if we get angry, we’ll just be putting on airs. We can’t beat [China]. We’ll ask them to allow our fishermen to [return] to their traditional fishing ground in Scarborough,” he said.

Mr. Duterte said he had already agreed to “this concession” in return for China’s relaxing its quarantine restrictions on banana and pineapple exports from the Philippines. ...

“I have a good feeling they (China) really want to help us in a big way. If I get something big, I promise you I will build hospitals and schools from the soft-term loans we will get (from China). If there is anything left, I will use it to help you build a power plant,” he told the residents of Lamitan.

Sounds familiar ...

Cable 08MANILA998, dated April 28, 2008 directly linked the controversy over the failed ZTE broadband deal with the JMSU in the Spratlys.

"In the wake of the ZTE scandal, allegations emerged that the Arroyo administration allowed the seismic exploration deal in exchange for bribe-tainted loans," the cable said.

Duterte says PH can’t win in Scarborough Shoal

Inquirer

1.) That's why he needs to build up alliances and NOT destroy them.
2.) That's why he needs to rely on the PCA decision and NOT beg for concessions.
3.) That's why he needs to shut up and NOT broadcast to the whole world what he thinks.

The result: A big sell-out for Chinese money of which there isn't much to go around these days.

One reason why the BREXIT happened is that the United Kingdom felt that the EU was "stuck" in Europe and should get more trade deals with Asia - Why continue to deal with losers when there are winners on the other side?

China's economy is fast going down and their economic figures have been "cooked up". Russia's economy has been in the "shitter" for a long time now. Why deal with them? The Dunce actually thinks they have money to throw around?
