Duterte says talks with China on sea dispute 'within the year'
By: Manuel Mogato, Reuters
August 23, 2016 8:52 PM

MANILA, Philippines - President Rodrigo Duterte said on Tuesday he expects talks with China on their South China Sea dispute within a year and he would not raise an international ruling rejecting China's claims there when he attends the regional 28th ASEAN Summit next month.

An arbitration court in the Hague infuriated China in July when it ruled that China had no historical title over the South China Sea and it had breached the Philippines' sovereign rights with various actions there.

Raising the issue at the summit scheduled from Sept. 6 to 8 in Vietiane, Laos of the 10-member Association of Southeast Asian Nations, together with its "dialogue partners" including China, the United States and Japan, would inevitably compound China's anger.

Duterte, speaking to reporters at the presidential palace in Manila, said it was "better to continually engage China in a diplomatic dialogue rather than anger officials there".

Philippines' Duterte warns China of 'reckoning'
AFP News24 August 2016

Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte warned Wednesday of a "reckoning" with China if there was no resolution to a tense dispute over rival claims to the South China Sea.

An international tribunal ruled last month that China's claims to most of the strategically vital waters had no legal basis, in what was seen as a sweeping victory for the Philippines, which filed the case.

Duterte repeatedly had said he did not want to anger China with an aggressive response, and sent an envoy to ease tensions, but on Wednesday signalled he was prepared to adopt a more confrontational approach.

"We will not raise hell now because of the judgement but there will come a time that we will have to do some reckoning about this," Duterte said in a speech to soldiers at a military camp. - more

:drunk: U spoke "Too soon boy" (Mr. PRD)

-Bashing US, UN and now China? You really have a "Death Wish" Mr.President..? O baka nalipasan ka na naman ng gutom? Dapat kaon muna bago speech Sir...

In the Philippines and to some of the Filipino People, You maybe a Superman, but it's a totally different situation outside the Philippines.. For the International Community, you are still nothing and just a tiny speck in their eyes.
International Politics is a different ball game altogether. :armyLol:

Just saying Mr. President, Your TOUGH WORDS has NO weight at all and you must first learn to play it right and then while silently preparing for future eventualities.
U can have your personal Death Wish.. "Yung China eh READY to Fight na! Ang Pilipinas, ikaw, HINDI PA! Hindi pwede ang puro Nga Nga lang!" Unless you've got something up your sleeve.. :dunno:
How do you expect them (International Community), to take you seriously, to believe in what you're saying and respect you if you continue with this kind of attitude Sir?
Walang Presidente na nagbibiro ng THREATS, lalo kung di kayang panindigan, paano kung sampolan tayo ng China ngayon Sir?
Di sila ta_ga para antayin pang dumating yung "Reckoning" day niyo Sir, diba po? :dunno:

Kung ang China na mismo, hindi sila nagsasalita ng direct at puro through sa mga "Mouthpiece" lang nila at mga retired Ex.Generals lang ang nagsasalita, while in the Philippines, directly coming from the President? Can we see how serious this is??? If China decides to react directly..?
Pls. Don't compromise the Country's expense. :salute:

Justice Carpio urges strong stance vs China in Southeast Asia
By: Lira Dalangin-Fernandez, InterAksyon
August 27, 2016 10:13 AM

MANILA, Philippines - The Philippines can rally like-minded countries in the Association of South East Asian Nations (ASEAN) to come up with a "strong" statement on the South China Sea territorial rows, Senior Associate Justice of the Supreme Court Jose Antonio Carpio said.

"I don't expect ASEAN to come up with a unanimous statement and displease China, but we can always agree to have a joint statement with Vietnam, Malaysia, Brunei, Indonesia. Maybe take out Brunei, but Vietnam is supporting us, Indonesia is supporting us, Malaysia is quietly supporting us," he said.

"We can come out with a strong statement, although I have no illusions about ASEAN," Carpio added in a talk at the University of the Philippines.

MANILA – The Philippines and China can engage in economic exchanges, such as trade and investments, which would go beyond the issue of the two countries’ dispute over the South China Sea, a former Philippine leader said.

Duterte no longer wants to join expeditions of patrolling seas

Published September 13, 2016 5:10pm

Following pronouncements that he will pursue his own independent foreign policy, President Rodrigo Duterte on Tuesday said he no longer wants to be involved in joint patrols.

In a speech delivered at the 48th anniversary of the 250th Philippine Airlift Wing in Villamor Air Base, Duterte said he only wants to patrol his own territory.

"We will not join any expedition of patrolling the sea. I will not allow it because I don’t want my country to be involved in hostile act. Patrolling kasi, when you patrol not only high seas but somebody else’s territory. Whether it is really owned by us, which the judgement says atin iyan, entitlement sabihin naman ng isa, China. That's besides my point. The point is I dont want to ride gung-ho style there with China or with America," Duterte said.

"I just want to patrol our territorial waters... We do not go into patrol or join any army because I do not want trouble," he added.

If he doesn't want trouble, why attack the US which the most powerful country in the world? Or maybe his close link to China informed him that Xi ordered the go signal to execute Filipino fishing boats and coastguards.

Now, Pnoy DID NOT request these patrols by himself... IT WAS THE PHL NAVY.

So what will happen now to BRP Sierra Madre? Abandon ship?

This makes no sense coming from the elected President. Established international law reaffirmed by the tribunal ruling says these areas lie within the Exclusive Economic Zone of the Philippines. "Exclusive" as in the Philippines alone has the right to claim and exploit resources found in these areas. Walang whether-whether. Why in the world is Duterte of all people casting ambiguity on this right? If the President of the Philippines refuses to assert the rights of the people who elected him to office, then who?!

Who benefits? This part at least is abundantly clear. Yet again, the sitting President of the Philippines does the Chinese bully, liar, and land-grabber a good one.

He says he doesn't want any trouble, but all he does once he opens his mouth is spit acid in all angles, his adventurism inside the Country and much worse outside like in PH Foreign Policy not to mention bad mouthing our no.1 Ally the US, POTUS and it's Ambassadors.

While I don't agree on how the US is treating PH in some aspects, We just have to prove them wrong in those aspects, but that's just how it is in this World, even with other Countries it's the same. There's always going to be conflicts of interests, but that doesn't mean there's no way to work it out.

The Philippines will forever be grateful to the US and vise-versa. NO POINT FOR HATE.

Does the Philippines have something that protects the Country and Constitution or even the Presidency from something like this..? :dunno:
PH is very close to like "All hell breaks lose".. I bet our big neighbour from the left is enjoying all of these dict-tatement coming from the Dugong.. :headbang:

I think you know who benefits as much as the Chinese.

It's painfully obvious. Until he proves otherwise, Duterts is China's whore.
