COCKTALES | This is no joke: Yasay just gave up Philippine claim on Bajo de Masinloc
By: Victor C. Agustin
July 11, 2016 9:00 AM

Given the uproar and the subsequent "rejoinder" given by Foreign Secretary Perfecto Yasay Jr. on his sit-down interview with the Agence France Presse, the French news agency decided to post the transcript of the now controversial Q&A about China and the Philippines' competing claims on the South China/West Philippine Sea.

That's what happens when you have a foreign affairs secretary who has no clear idea on how your foreign policy works.

Wait... I forgot, your current president (his boss) doesn't even have a clear and firm stand on your country's foreign policy with regards to the South China Sea. Apologies... the West Philippines Sea.

China vows 'decisive response' to West PH Sea provocation; US urges quiet diplomacy
By: Agence France-Presse and Reuters
July 14, 2016 5:52 PM

Beijing, China - China on Thursday threatened a "decisive response" to any provocation in the South China Sea, following an international tribunal ruling against its extensive claims in the disputed area.

The Asian giant has reacted furiously to the verdict issued by the Permanent Court of Arbitration (PCA) tribunal in the Hague, which on Tuesday sided with the Philippines in its ruling that China had no grounds for its claims in the strategically vital waterway.

"If anyone wants to take any provocative action against China's security interests based on the award, China will make a decisive response," foreign ministry spokesman Lu Kang said Thursday.

How to stop China from building military infrastructures on West PH Sea? Chinese Greenie has idea
By: Veronica Uy, InterAksyon.com
July 16, 2016 3:03 PM

ULAAN BAATAR, Mongolia -- Experts, including Supreme Court Justice and principal proponent in the case Antonio Carpio, agree that the ruling of the international arbitral tribunal for the Philippines in its territorial dispute against China may not be enforceable. But a Chinese environmentalist has an idea on how to stop his country from building military infrastructures in the Spratlys: Use the Green card.

“I think we should approach [the dispute] from marine conservation because no government has the right to destroy the eco system, the endangered species, corals, sea turtles, tropical fish, and dolphins,” Wen Bo told InterAksyon.com at the sidelines of the Asia-Europe People’s Forum early July.

Beijing to hold South China Sea war games after ruling

BEIJING - Beijing will close off access to part of the South China Sea for military drills, officials said Monday, after an international tribunal ruled against its sweeping claims in the waters.
An area off the east coast of China's island province of Hainan will host military exercises from Tuesday to Thursday, China's maritime administration said on its website, adding that entrance was "prohibited".
The area of sea identified is some distance from the Paracel islands and even further from the Spratlys, with both chains claimed by Beijing and several other neighboring states.

IMO, The Philippines should do this legal means as next step, along side fast tracked new/ interim "Territorial Defense Plans and acquisitions"
"Further from Spratly Islands" would be a direct challenge to the US and it's Allied Countries who have supported the ITLOS Ruling against China.. This is like saying "What are you guys going to do now???"

Philippines Should Sue China For $177 Billion In South China Sea Rent And Damages

China owes the Philippines and other countries more than $177 billion in rent and damages for the South China Sea fiasco. The Permanent Court of Arbitration found on Tuesday that Mischief Reef is a low-water elevation and within Philippines’ exclusive economic zone. This gives the Philippines’ indisputable legal rights to the reef. But since 1995 when China occupied the reef, China irreparably harmed the reef’s delicate marine ecosystem by dredging and building an artificial island there, including a military garrison and air-strip. By my estimate, China owes the Philippines $12.4 billion in rent and damages for Mischief Reef alone. Considering other Chinese island-building, the country owes the Philippines and other claimant countries more than $177 billion. If China doesn’t want to pay, the Philippines can sue in the courts of the U.S. and other countries where China holds property.

^This would surely make Beijing think twice and they won't be able to do anything once all their Assets/ Investments are sequestered one by one all over the World along with World wide "Boycott China Products" pulling out Western Investments in China and diverting them all between ASEAN Countries. One BIG FAT SLAP on their faces!

PH should file these cases and freeze all their Assets so they can't touch n sell them.

Hope Pres Duterte's Govt. will be clever enough to pursue these legal options, for this is the only best way we can win against the bully, especially if filed together with ASEAN and or other Asian Allies Country claimants in Spratly.

Philippines' oil still in troubled waters after South China Sea ruling
By: Enrico Dela Cruz, Reuters
July 22, 2016 7:34 PM

MANILA, Philippines - The Philippines, eager to resume development of vital oil and gas reserves off its coast, will likely need to reach an accord with a Chinese government infuriated by last week's ruling that granted Manila a big victory in the South China Sea.

The Philippines relies overwhelmingly on imports to fuel its fast-growing economy. That reliance will grow further in a few years when the main source of domestic natural gas runs out, so the clock is ticking for it to develop offshore fields that China shows no sign of loosening its grip on.

Beijing has refused to recognize the ruling by the Permanent Court of Arbitration that granted the Philippines sovereign rights to access offshore oil and gas fields, including the Reed Bank, a shallow tablemount some 85 nautical miles off its coast.

Yes, but only IF.. settled under PH terms and China acknowledges ITLOS ruling.
"Here Comes the Bribe..?" :dunno: FFS
At the expense of every thing the Philippines lost with regards to EEZ Territories, Natural Resources, Filipno Peoples rights and livelihood and will continue to lose more.. My GOD!

We're not asking to go to war with China, but just to stand and fight for our rights and what is truly ours, under the law.

This is proof that they are just trying to run the same old story, over and over again, just different approach and different main characters.

-Mind conditioning tactics
-Passive approach
-many more coming..
-Bakit parang matapang lang ito sa kapwa niya Filipino? kaya lang niya kapwa niya Filipino? Pero parang bahag ang buntot sa China, imbes ipaglaban ang bansa at karapatan ng kapwa Filipino???

The only loser are the true ordinary Filipinos, the local Filipino Fishermen and their families, the only one dying are our People, may it be the poor innocent, local drug pusher, users, Filipino people who all have the right to due process and who may still have the right to change their lives, again Ordinary Filipino People are the losers, as always, not to mention Inang Laya.

This also proves that maybe, everything that went on regarding the election results were maybe compromised, from top to buttom in order to favour one Country. hope NOT. PH is DOOMED! :headbang:

"I really pray that we are able to settle ... itong sa South China Sea. It's all right if we take out the arbitral judgment from the talks."
- Former President Fidel Ramos -

Is this the beginning of a sell-out? I don't know if he's a card player but you don't have to be a card player to know that one should never "reveal his cards" at the outset. Telling the Chinese that you are willing to do without the court ruling as long as you get a settlement is brazenly irresponsible.

The cigar chomping former president should know better as I am sure he had played a game or two of poker while he was at West Point. Seems to answer my question on how you lost Mischief Reef when he was your president. You all know what those "fishermen's shelters" are today.

I have friends who were previously cursing at what the Chinese have been doing at the WPS.
The problem is they are Duterts followers..
And now, they are defending Duterts and telling me a combination of the following:

1. We have to talk with China or we lose every island. Better have something in return that lose everything, even if it were just rights to fish on those areas.
2. The US is only using PH.
3. The AFP modernization is a waste of money, PH can't win against China even if the AFP is modernized.
4. PH needs to secure it's territories first against insurgents.

I don't know what happened to these guys but, they are more concerned about the presidency of Duterts than for the good of the nation.
