China opposes PH seeking ASEAN unity vs reclamation

Reuters
Posted at 04/20/2015 7:59 PM
BEIJING, China - China on Monday said it opposed the Philippines seeking Southeast Asian unity to denounce its reclamation in the South China Sea, and hoped Washington and Manila, who have been conducting a military exercise in the disputed waters, do more to benefit regional peace and stability.

Earlier on Monday, an official said Philippine President Benigno Aquino will ask Southeast Asian leaders to issue a collective statement denouncing China's reclamation in disputed waters, as the army expressed concern over expanding building works.

IMO, this is typical china "sore loser" (pikon?) reaction to Philippine playing up their destruction of coral reefs in the Spratlys and world media catching on to it... i remember just several months back reports saying that things have settled down at Panatag and Filipino fishermen were able to fish around the area without being harassed by the bullies.

PH to insist on ASEAN statement vs Chinese reclamation

By Ira Pedrasa, ABS-CBNnews.com

MANILA - The Philippines will insist on a collective statement from Southeast Asian leaders against China’s continuous reclamation activities in the West Philippine Sea despite the latter’s disapproval.

In a press conference, Foreign Affairs Spokesperson Charles Jose said: “We should keep in mind that because of the reclamation activities, what’s being violated is the 2002 Declaration on the Conduct of Parties in the South China Sea.”

The document, though non-binding, was signed by parties including China to “enhance favorable conditions for a peaceful and durable solution of differences and disputes among countries concerned.”

PH vs China hearing to take place in July

By Dharel Placido, ABS-CBNnews.com

MANILA – A United Nations-backed arbitral tribunal is set to conduct a hearing in July 2015 to decide whether it has jurisdiction on the case submitted by Manila against Beijing regarding the disputed South China Sea.

The arbitral tribunal at Permanent Court of Arbitration (PCA), based in The Hague, The Netherlands, noted that while China has refused to participate in the proceedings, it will consider the latter's communications, including its position paper, ''as constituting a plea concerning the arbitral tribunal’s jurisdiction."

AFP chief: We're on our own against China
04/23/2015 11:19 PM
by Gigi Grande, ABS-CBN News

MANILA - Armed Forces Chief of Staff Gregorio Catapang has admitted Filipino soldiers will have to go it alone if armed conflict erupts in the West Philippine Sea between the Philippines and China.

Catapang said the United States would not come to the defense of Manila, its long-time ally.

"We understand the treaty, it does not include the West Philippine Sea, and so we want to develop our own capabilities. When the time comes that we will be on our own, given the training with the Americans, we can do it on our own," Catapang said in an interview with ABS-CBN News. "It’s a contested area. Until now it's in the international tribunal, so we have to be realistic."

Catapang was referring to the 1951 Mutual Defense Treaty (MDT) between the Philippines and United States, which compels both nations to come to each other's defense if an external armed attack occurs in metropolitan areas, island territories in the Pacific Ocean, or armed forces, vessels, and aircraft in the Pacific. The MDT makes no mention of the South China Sea, also known as the West Philippine Sea.??? WHAAAAT??? :lollol: :headbang:

----
Eh OGAG pala itong si Catapang eh, di manlang nag tanong kay "Siri" lollol! Di kaya kay "Google" bago nag salita sa press.. :dunno: Hay buhay tuwid na daan? Bagay nga KAYO NG AMO MO!

FYI: The South China Sea or West Philippine Sea is part of the South West Pacific Area!
You will never develop anything like the capabilities that you want for the AFP just by talking, but by start doing something..

My apologies Mods, Admins! Nakakagigil kasi katangs nito, AFP CoS pa naman, absent yata ng tinuro sa kanila yung "Less talk, less mistake!"

Philippines accuses China coastguard of armed robbery | AFP - Yahoo! News
Quote:

Fishermen aboard three vessels with clear Chinese coastguard markings boarded two Philippine fishing boats in Scarborough Shoal on April 11, then took the crew's catch, the Philippine fisheries bureau said.

In one incident, the Filipino fishermen "were threatened and pointed with a gun before the Chinese forcibly took their fishes," according to an incident report from the bureau sent to AFP.

A week later three Chinese coastguard ships fired water cannon on a Philippine fishing boat, injuring at least three crewmen and destroying the ship's glass windows, according to a separate report from the bureau.

"This is unacceptable because the area is within our exclusive economic zone," Philippine fisheries bureau head Asis Perez told AFP.

"No country has the right to stop our fishermen from doing their jobs. That's against international law."
Asked about the incidents on Thursday, Philippine foreign affairs spokesman Charles Jose said the government would file a diplomatic protest.

this is a message that has to be sent not only to the politicos, all of whom are now thinking of both filling up their bank accounts and finding ways to get elected in 2016, but also to each and every common Filipino. we are ALONE in the WAR against China. we cannot "outsource" against China to the Americans, the Japanese, the South Koreans and other strong allies that we have. the business of defending the independence, sovereignty, territory and interests of the Republic of the Philippines belongs solely to the Republic of the Philippines and its people.

this is now the time for everyone in this country to realize that the survival of this country is on the line now that the Chinese to the west of us (and the Malaysians to the south of us) are inching closer to annexing Philippine territories and are using their local proxies to destroy the Republic of the Philippines from within. the Philippines is now in the same situation that Israel faced during the Arab-Israeli Wars of the 1950's, 1960's and 1970's; and Singapore after it was expelled from the Federation of Malaysia during the 1960's. Filipinos must realize that once the Chinese (and the Malaysians) become successful in what they intend to do, none will be left that no one in the world will care since it was Filipinos' lack of love of country and happy go lucky attitude that contributed to the destruction of the nation and loss of its territories and assets.
