I think iMO, PH Govt. AFP/ DND should start their plans, to fast track the acquisitions for Mobile Land Base Anti Ship Missiles, Anti Air defense Systems, Mobile MIM-104 Patriots and ASuW systems.

To Deploy these ASM's, AADS, ABS around Palawan particularly in Busuanga, San Vicente, Puerto Prinsesa, Rizal Areas to fully cover "Recto Bank", Malampaya, some parts of KiG, and Mischief Reef (anti access denial) the same in "Batanes", "Calayan", "Babuyan" Islands, Ilocos Norte, etc.

These ideas are much quicker, cheaper to acquire compared to a few Warships, AC's that can only cover a small particular area, with strategic positioning, these defense systems can secure and protect the whole Country and it's territories instantly, while waiting for the AFPM Acquisitions to finish.

WE CAN MAKE PH or OUR ISLANDS LIKE A BIG AIRCRAFT CARRIER to counter CHINA and concentrate on mass building the rest of our Warships locally, as soon as we acquire a few good "True Blue" Warships as templates.
Let's face it, even after we accomplished our AFP's "Minimum Credible Defense", it still won't be enough to counter China in case of an armed conflict. "We can use our PH Islands strategically.

We have the right to cover and protect these areas, for they are part of PH Mainland territories, "the RED line." Let's not think, expect that the US will help us straight away, "nasa atin mga Pilipino pa rin ang pagkilos."

Let us NOT give China a chance, even an inch to occupy these areas with their "Illegal Poaching" and "White Ships" strategies, like what they are doing around "Ayungin Shoal", "Pag-asa Island" and "Panatag Shoal."

^^THESE SHOULD KEEP THEM AT BAY, for them to think twice on pulling their Oil Rigs closer to PH territories and to show them that PH is dead serious about protecting those areas at all cost.

What a better way to use US Military presence in Palawan, if the yanks are present, the PLA's can't just retaliate on Palawan in case we are forced to fire at those Chinese ships et al.

If there are plans to acquire more US WHECs, much better to transfer some them to our PCG, for a much better use, for ramming purposes etc.

If PH Govt. can give funding to acquire a 245 meter Secondhand Oil Tanker w/ double hull, good for ramming for the PCG with MG's, water cannons, w/ Fast attack Boats w/ MG's to arrest those poachers and this is something "na kahit humarang sila eh lugi sila" or modify it into a big LPD/ MPAC Carrier for PN armed with 2 76's, AA's, ASM's, Bushmasters, ASW Helicopters, AH's etc.

I think we can get (Oil tanker) second hand one for around between $25-40M USD... :dunno:
Maybe we can ask the Japs for some surplus..

just my 2 cents..

New China map self-serving: Palace

ABS-CBN
06/27/2014

MANILA - A Palace spokesman criticized as "self-serving" a new map published by China that shows its claim over the South China Sea including parts of the West Philippine Sea.

Presidential Spokesman Edwin Lacierda said China's new map does not help its claim over the disputed waters.

"Even if China adds another dash to its 10-dash line, it does not make its claim any stronger. The map is self-serving and the international community does not recognize its claim," he said.

Foreign Affairs Spokesman Charles Jose earlier said the publication of the new map only shows China's "unreasonably expansive claim" of territories in the South China Sea that is contrary to international law.

"We should take note that no other country recognizes previously China's nine-dash claim. Publishing a new map does not make the territories that they claim theirs," he said in an ANC interview.

"It is precisely such ambitious expansionism that is causing tensions in the South China Sea," he added.

PHL to China: Map won't make territories yours
By MICHAELA DEL CALLAR
GMA News
June 26, 2014

China can't assert its ownership of territories in the South China Sea on the basis of a new map that places almost all of the disputed waters within its national boundaries, the Philippines said on Thursday.

"The map per se will not make the territories that you claim yours. If it were so, then let's all draw our own maps. It's unreasonably expansive. Your map should be based on international law and no country in the world recognizes the nine-dash line of China."

China slams Philippines for 'non-stop' talk on rule of law :lollol: :lollol: :lollol:

"It is worth noting that recently some countries keep taking provocative actions and stirring things up, and at the meantime, they just cannot stop talking about the rule of law with a purpose of threatening and smearing China and swaying the public opinion," Qin said.

Feuding China, Philippines can still do business says envoy

China and the Philippines should work to strengthen weak economic ties, Beijing's envoy to Manila has said, despite an acrimonious maritime dispute.

"It is imperative and essential that the two countries focus (on) things that can unite us, focus on things that can promote common prosperity for both countries," ambassador Zhao Jianhua told Filipino businessmen in a speech late Tuesday.

yup yup.... among ASEAN countries we have the least trade with the bully . and after the threats and hassles they did to our banana exports to punish us, its for the better that we are diversifying our exports. Vietnam is now realizing that it is dangerous to concentrate her trade with the bully.

Philex to drill in Recto Bank sans potential Chinese partner

By: Gerard dela Pena, News5
May 21, 2014 9:19 AM

MANILA - Philex Petroleum Corp's unit is set to drill two exploration wells in Recto Bank without the Chinese or any partner amid rising tensions between Manila and Beijing.

During the company's annual stockholders meeting, Philex Petroleum chairman Manuel V. Pangilinan said they have decided to push through with their exploration in the gas-rich Service Contract (SC) 72 in off-shore Palawan. SC 72 operated by Forum Energy Plc, which is 64.45-percent owned by Philex Petroleum.

PH sends strong words: China can't assert sovereignty over Recto Bank
by Ruser Mallari
14/07/2014

The dispute over the sovereignty of the Reed Bank, also known locally as the Recto Bank, has been going on for years.

This is with regards to the claim of China that the Reed Bank is a part of their territory.

"Recto Bank or Reed Bank is not an island, rock or low tide elevation. Accordingly, Reed Bank which is about 85 nautical miles from the nearest coast of Palawan and 595 nautical miles from the coast of Hainan forms part of the 200 nautical mile continental shelf of the Philippine archipelago under UNCLOS. In accordance with the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea, the Philippines has the exclusive sovereign rights over the Reed bank. No other state is lawfully entitled to assert sovereignty or sovereign rights over the said area."
- Charles Jose, Foreign Affairs spokesman
China's Foreign Ministry spokesman Hong Lei recently issued a statement saying that the oil exploration project in the Reed bank is illegal.

The Department of Energy extended the contract of the British firm Forum Energy until August 2016 to complete the second sub-phased drilling in the Reed Bank.
