imo, having a Poseidon "pass" by during that tense 2 hours "patintero" with ccg was a reminder that theyre being watched by uncle. and having a lot of "visitors" calling in lately is also a subtle "kalabit" to the bully. this is the reason why the Chinese keep repeating that the US are not involved and should not get involved in this

and the way Chinese keep throwing threats to the Philippines is just a result of them trapped in a corner. Imo, its better this way than having them as a partner in exploring our resources

The new Chinese ambassador to the Philippines is Zhao Jianhua. I wonder why the last ambassador to the Philippines, Ma Keqing, was replaced?

New Chinese envoy presents credentials to P-Noy, hopes for better relations

By: InterAksyon.com | Philippines News Agency
April 8, 2014 1:51 PM

In a statement, the Chinese embassy here said the ambassador “held a brief meeting” with President Aquino and the two “exchanged views on China-Philippines relations and the South China Sea issue.”

Ambassador Zhao reiterated “relevant principled position” of the Chinese government and “emphasized that China attaches importance to its relations with the Philippines.”

“The current difficulties in the bilateral relations, caused by some problems including the arbitration case on the South China Sea issue, are not what the Chinese side wishes to see, and are not in the common interests of both China and the Philippines,” the embassy said.

“It is China's hope that the Philippine side could, in the spirit of seeking common grounds while shelving differences, work with the Chinese side to properly handle relevant disputes, and to overcome obstacles and bring the bilateral ties back to the normal track of development,” the embassy added.

The new ambassador who replaced Ma Keqing arrived in Manila on February 23 and presented the copy of the Letter of Credence to Philippine Secretary of Foreign Affairs Albert F. del Rosario on March 7.

probably normal reassignment OR....... when she was first appointed, i noted her resemblance to PNoy's mother and wondered with amusement if that was intentional to gain a psychological advantage over him... FAT CHANCE if ever, as they later found out that the president's a rebellious stubborn son of a B*#@!...... her mission failed

China warns Phl, Japan: ‘We won’t compromise on territory’
WASHINGTON – Chinese Defense Minister Chang Wanquan has warned the Philippines and Japan not to test China’s resolve to safeguard its national sovereignty, security and territorial integrity, saying the Chinese military can be assembled quickly to fight and win any battle.

For his part, Hagel, who is on a three-day visit to China, said the Philippines and Japan were long-time allies of the United States.

US navy commander warns of naval standoff over Chinese aggression
April 9, 2014 - 10:08PM

The top US Navy commander in the Pacific has launched a stinging attack on China's "aggressive" military growth, warning that Beijing's assertiveness is a "witches' brew" for a naval standoff.

In unusually strong language, Admiral Harry Harris, Commander of the US Pacific Fleet, branded China's establishment of a controlled flight zone around islands disputed with Japan dangerous and unilateral.

"I'm concerned by the aggressive growth of the Chinese military, the lack of transparency and a pattern of increasingly assertive behaviour in the region," Admiral Harris told a conference in Canberra on Wednesday night.

"The way China went about it was dangerous - unilaterally, without consultation with other parties and over disputed waters," Admiral Harris told the Australian Strategic Policy Institute conference.

"In tense times, it's all the more important for nations to consult and co-ordinate, especially when national intentions are unclear."

<snipped>

"This includes maritime sovereignty claims that have no basis in, or relationship to, international law, such as the area within the so-called nine-dash line.

<snipped>

"There's both growing uncertainty in the region and increasing tensions. A witches' brew for miscalculation."

Philippines using 'moral suasion' vs China (abs-cbnnews.com)
4/11/2014
Quote:

This was why the Philippines filed a case to a UN tribunal, asking it to declare Beijing's claims of undisputed sovereignty over most of the sea as illegal, said Foreign Department spokesman Charles Jose.

"Through moral suasion, we hope the international community will help make China realize that it is also in their best interest to respect and comply with the decision of the tribunal," he said on ABS-CBN television.

"If China wants to be seen as a responsible member of the international community, then it is better for them to work, to operate within the established international order rather than outside of it."

WALANG DUWAG NA PINOY | PHL will defend territories 'to the last blood' - VP Binay

11-Apr-14, 7:47 PM | Ernie Reyes, InterAksyon.com

Filipinos are 'no pushover' and will defend their territories to the very end, but only after all peaceful means have been exhausted, Vice President Jejomar Binay said Thursday night after meeting Marines posted in the so-called last frontier of Philippine sovereignty, Ayungin Shoal.
