Philippines urged to seek damages for China's destruction of Scarborough coral reefs
Patricia Lourdes Viray (philstar.com) - June 13, 2018 - 10:27am

MANILA, Philippines — The Philippines should once again file a new case seeking for compensation following Chinese fishermen's destruction of coral reefs on Panatag or Scarborough Shoal, Acting Chief Justice Antonio Carpio said.

Carpio, part of the government's legal team in the arbitration case against China, noted that the Philippines was not awarded damages in the July 2016 ruling as the country did not ask for it.

DFA urged to bare 100 protests filed vs China
Paolo Romero (The Philippine Star) - June 14, 2018 - 12:00am

MANILA, Philippines — Lawmakers yesterday called on Foreign Affairs Secretary Alan Peter Cayetano to make public the so-called hundreds of diplomatic protests filed by the government against China for its violations of Philippine sovereignty.

The lawmakers from the minority bloc led by Senators Franklin Drilon and Risa Hontiveros made the call to Cayetano, saying they are skeptical of his claim that the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) has filed 50 to 100 protests against China’s aggressive maritime claims.

They said Cayetano’s disclosure of protests would temper the growing public indignation over the apparent lax and subservient attitude of the Duterte administration toward China.

Beijing must discipline its coast guard
(The Philippine Star) - June 14, 2018 - 12:00am

Recently, President Rodrigo Duterte and Chinese Ambassador Zhao Jianhua discussed China Coast Guard’s abuses at Panatag Shoal in the West Philippine Sea on June 12 as the nation celebrated Independence Day.

Ironically, Zhao’s presence at the celebration of the 120th anniversary of Philippine independence raised eyebrows and drew disapproving comments on social media, although he was just one of the foreign diplomats invited to the event
. The controversy that Chinese coast guards are confiscating the catch of Filipino fishermen at Panatag Shoal, a rich fishing ground located 230 km from the coast of Zambales province, well within the Philippines’ 370 km exclusive economic zone (EEZ) in the South China Sea is allegedly a controlled area of China. He even contends that Chinese coast guards were not harassing Filipino fishermen and not confiscating their catch. “It is some sort of barter trade, which has been going on for quite some time,” Zhao said, adding Chinese coast guards exchanged food and water for the Filipinos’ fish.

"DFA urged to bare 100 protests filed vs China". DFA and DuRoqCay will show anything because they cannot show anything, because they do not have anything, because they did not do a single thing. They were simply deceiving the public, being spokespersons of China

Carpio: Philippines' sovereignty more important than becoming chief justice

Kristine Joy Patag (philstar.com) - June 14, 2018 - 4:01pm

MANILA, Philippines — For Senior Associate Justice Antonio Carpio, the Philippines’ sovereignty is far more important than becoming the next chief justice.

Carpio is currently the acting chief justice pending the finality of the ruling on the quo warranto petition that ousted Maria Lourdes Sereno as head of the Judiciary. As the justice who has served the high court the longest, Carpio is poised to be the strongest candidate for the position.

The senior justice has been advocating a stance on the West Philippine Sea issue that goes against the administration of the President Rodrigo Duterte—who appoints members of the Judiciary—on asserting the Philippines’ rights over the contested waters.

Duterte, the Philippine Chief Executive Spokesperson to China insists that Chinese getting fishes from fisherman is barter system.
Ano ba alam niya sa barter system? He is a lawyer that does not know law, a lawyer who does not know that FA-50 is not F-16 and is not a display aircraft will understand barter?

Oh wait wait wait.... Chinese financial loans is the barter for SCS!!!
Let's see....
PH fisherman receives expired noodles vs 2-5 kilos fish.
PH fisherman receives cigar vs 2-5kilos fish.

Ayun. Kasi bBinayaran na pala daw ng China ang PH so why will CCG pay anything to PH fisherman?

Hontiveros: ‘Drive out tambay in South China Sea, not those in the streets’
Paolo Romero (The Philippine Star) - June 20, 2018 - 12:00am
MANILA, Philippines — Sen. Risa Hontiveros yesterday challenged President Duterte to drive out Chinese occupants in Panatag or Scarborough Shoal before apprehending the tambays in the streets.

“That’s the problem with President Duterte – he’s only tough on the poor, the jobless, and defenseless bystanders, but he crumples under China who have been forever loitering in Panatag Shoal,” Hontiveros said.
