MANILA - The Philippines and China are in "very serious conversations" over Beijing's activities in the South China Sea, a foreign affairs official said Friday.

Government agencies are "not being remiss in their duties" even if the discussions are not public, Foreign Affairs Undersecretary Ernesto Abella said.

"Madetalye, at madiin at mabigat ang pinag-uusapan, hindi po kasi pwedeng ilantad lahat. So we continue to assure you, that we continue to engage in very serious conversations," Abella told reporters.

China's message to Chinese spokespersons Du30, Roque & Cayetano: Tame your countrymen otherwise we will remove all investments in MOA, NorthRail & Davao projects. China image should remain clean. Divert the attention.

@Sgt JCOP, Precisely!

Sige PDu30 ask more investments and continue with your proposed plans on Joint Exploration with Beijing let's see what happens..

Much better if the Duterte Administration re-focuses it's sights on SCS (Non-claimant) Russia instead of China with regards to Joint O/G Explorations in WPS n other PH Territories, same like Vietnam's strategy.

And now, du30 has found a way to divert the attention and blame to Sen. Trillanes. Du30 is a blame gamer. What other tactics will he do. What other diversionary attention will he do. What other alibis will he blame to others

Solon challenges Cayetano claim of '50-100' diplomatic protests vs China
ABS-CBN News

Posted at Jun 04 2018 12:09 PM

MANILA - Foreign Affairs Secretary Alan Peter Cayetano only filed a single diplomatic protest against China, unlike his claim that the Philippines had filed between 50 to 100 in the last 2 years, a lawmaker claimed Monday.

Magdalo Rep. Gary Alejano said Manila only filed the protest on May 28, a Saturday, and the note verbale was "brought to the residence of the Ambassador of China."

Traditionally, he said the foreign envoy is summoned to the Department of Foreign Affairs "to emphasize the gravity of the situation."

"The implication is that we are being so considerate of China and well, in a way, we don’t want to offend them with our words and actions," Alejano told ANC's Headstart.

"What we want is for our government to be transparent in its action and by all means, any violation in our territory should be answered through corresponding protest because that is our record to show to the world that we are doing our own share," he added.

Chinese buildup in South China Sea: Aquino hits back at Duterte
Edu Punay (The Philippine Star) - June 5, 2018 - 12:00am

MANILA, Philippines — An administration that had officially protested China’s maritime bullying and challenged its massive territorial claim before an international court cannot be blamed for Beijing’s unfettered military buildup in the West Philippine Sea and South China Sea, former president Benigno Aquino III said yesterday.

He made the pronouncement at a press conference to rebut President Duterte’s claim that the previous administration was to blame for China’s militarization of areas within the Philippines’ exclusive economic zone.

The President had also claimed China’s island-building activities began during his predecessor’s administration and that the latter did not lift a finger to stop it.
