Ph needs more time and breathing space to build up her economic and military capacity and wait for the right opportunity to successfully expel China from Scarborough shoal and mischief reef.
By then, China's own economic and military capacity will also be greater than it is now...assuming of course Xi Jinping and the oppressive communist party are still in charge and still expansionist.

If China maintains her present trajectory, she would sooner or later come into conflict with the US. If China is defeated or at least weakened, the ph should have the military capability to seize the opportunity to recover the lost territories in order to preempt other interested rival claimants.

Philippines to exhaust diplomatic options on SCS
Christina Mendez (The Philippine Star) - May 6, 2018 - 12:00am

MANILA, Philippines — The government is still in the process of exhausting all diplomatic means to address concerns over China’s deployment of missiles on the manmade islands at the South China Sea (SCS), Presidential spokesman Harry Roque Jr. said yesterday.

“If it is verified, of course, we view it with much concern because any form of militarization of the West Philippine Sea is worrisome, given that it is one of the busiest sea lanes of the world,” Roque said at a press briefing in Davao City.

Roque added that there is no need at this time for the government to summon Chinese Ambassador Zhao Jianhua to shed light on the issue.

China assures it will protect PH – Duterte

Manila Bulletin

He said that China assured him that they will come when he calls them for help.
“Bakit ko nilagay diyan? Mas mabuting may garantiya ako. Kung tutulong man ang America, which I doubt, meronsila ‘yung mga missile-missile (Why did I get them? It’s better that I have a guarantee. If America decides to help, which I doubt, these two countries have missiles),” he said.

“They [America] have lost so many wars. So China said, ‘We will protect you. We will not allow the Philippines to be destroyed. Nanditolang kami at kung gusto mo, anytime, tawagin mo kami (We are just here, call us anytime),’” he added.

Duterte also lauded China and Russia for staying true to their words.

Ang panlilinlang ng Presidente ng Pilipinas sa mga Pilipino, upang itaguyod nito ang kanyang pangsariling interest.
1. China will protect PH? China already conquered and challenges PH Military. And Dutiti is ineffectively leading this govt.
2. China has one-word? For so may years & times, they said they will leave WPS, will not militarize, will not put missiles. Now they did,
3. China is not asking for anything? China does not need to ask. It is already grabbing and stealing PH Territory and Dutiti is allowing it.He is a commander mischief.

He is already ineffective. Treason.

PH 'softness' on China's territorial claims not working - law expert
ABS-CBN News

Posted at May 06 2018 11:48 AM

MANILA - The Philippines' "soft position" on China's territorial claims in the South China Sea is putting the country at a disadvantage, an international law expert said Sunday.

The Chinese army installed anti-ship and air-to-air defenses on outposts claimed by Vietnam and the Philippines over the last 30 days, American television network CNBC reported last week, citing sources close to US intelligence.

Manila needs to take a stronger stand after this development if it wants to preserve its advantage from a United Nations-backed arbitral ruling that recognized its maritime entitlements in the area,
said Atty. Jay Batongbacal of the University of the Philippines (UP) Institute for Maritime Affairs and Law of the Sea.

Duterte hits US, Aquino amid Chinese ‘militarization’ in S. China Sea

ABS-CBN

May 04 2018

It was the Aquino administration that hailed China to a United Nations-backed arbitral tribunal in 2013. But the tribunal released its ruling in favor of the Philippines in July 2016, 12 days after Duterte took his oath as President. ...

“Aquino filed an arbitration case, we won. He was still there, bakit hindi niya ginawa kung 'yan talaga ang gusto ‘yan silang mga yellows (why didn't he do it if that's what the yellows really want)?” Duterte said, seemingly forgetting he was already President and Aquino was out when the ruling was handed down.

In a statement released straight after the ruling, the Philippines government said it "strongly affirms its respect for this milestone decision as an important contribution to ongoing disputes in the South China Sea."
The Philippines and China have long been at odds over Beijing's claims of sovereignty over large swathes of the South China Sea, and Manila took its fight to the Hague-based Permanent Court of Arbitration in 2013.

Philippines tells US: No more joint sea patrols
By: Agence France-Presse
October 7, 2016 6:22 PM

Manila, Philippines - The Philippines announced Friday it had officially informed the United States it had suspended South China Sea patrols with its longtime ally, following orders from President Rodrigo Duterte.

"They have been suspended for the time being. They (Washington) know it already," Defense Secretary Delfin Lorenzana told reporters, adding he had relayed the decision to the commander of the US Pacific Command when he was in Hawaii at the start of this month.

Still, Lorenzana indicated he was still not 100 percent sure of Duterte's final plans.

"They will not be conducted anymore until we clarify if he (Duterte) means what he says," Lorenzana said.

Xi broke promise not to militarize Spratly islands: Carpio
ABS-CBN News

Posted at May 06 2018 05:38 PM
MANILA - Chinese President Xi Jinping broke a 2015 promise not to militarize its artificial islands in the South China Sea, Acting Supreme Court Chief Justice Antonio Carpio said on Sunday.

Carpio made this statement following reports that China installed missiles on the islands it reclaimed in the Spratlys.

In 2015, Reuters reported that Chinese President Xi Jinping during a meeting with then US President Barack Obama, denied that China was militarizing the islands.

"China has just broken that promise by installing long-range anti-ship cruise and anti-aircraft missiles on these artificial islands," Carpio said.
