Esperon on sea dispute: Fix internal problems first to become ‘a stronger nation’

http://globalnation.inquirer.net/165884/esperon-national-security-south-china-sea-west-philippine-sea-dispute-china#ixzz5DAWLqKiI

“We are not surprised that there would be reports on emplacements of surface-to-air, of course some jammers kasi meron na silang stationed troops doon (because they have stationed troops there). How I wish we could go back to earlier times when we have capabilities and we were expecting help from allies perhaps to stop it. Pero andyan na ‘yan eh. Anong gagawin mo (But it’s there already; what will you do about it), are we going to war?” he told reporters.

Bilateral talks with China is ok, but the government should also strengthen the capability of the AFP not just internal but also in external threats. The people are already tired that the reason why there was no focus on the external threats is because the AFP is so focused on the internal threats. Surface combatants and MRF can also be used for internal threats since they can guard the territorial perimeters of the vast coast lines of the country. They can each coordinate if suspected terrorist are coming in or coming out of the country's backdoor.
If they want this nation to be stronger in terms of security, it should not be only internally or just externally but both sides. They must assess each security threats. The past experiences that the country has face like the what happened recently in Marawi and in Zamboanga, security on remaining controlled islands on the Spratlys. Current threats like how to secure Benham/Philippine Rise. They should also focus on future threats. Those "WHAT IF" scenarios that would hit the country. I know that it is not an overnight thing to do this, but gradually it can be attained. But if it would be set aside and stalled it cannot be attained.
Lastly the government should really really support the SRDP of the AFP. If the government can have some controls on one local shipping yard and let it partnered with foreign ship companies (like Thyssenkrupp). With this they can generate more jobs for the country. How I wish that in the future, the Philippines can build locally made surface combatants the size of a corvette or a frigate to be used by the Philippine Navy. Regarding PADC, with the vast experience of the AFP using Huey helicopters, can they not just have the knowledge to maintain it but locally manufacture some parts as their first project. And eventually from small parts to bigger parts then in the future, build an indigenous helicopter or even a turbo prop plane.

Losing West PH Sea the ‘gravest threat’ since World War II —Carpio
By: Julius N. Leonen - @JLeonenINQ
INQUIRER.net / 05:46 PM April 20, 2018

Losing the West Philippine Sea to nuclear-armed China may just be the “gravest external threat” to the Philippines since the second World War, acting Chief Justice Antonio Carpio said on Friday.

In his commencement speech at University of San Carlos in Cebu City, Justice Carpio warned that if Filipinos lose the huge resource-rich waters to Asia’s superpower, they would lose it “forever.”

“If we lose this huge maritime area, we lose it forever. This generation, and future generations of Filipinos, will never be able to recover this vast area with all its rich natural resources,” the magistrate said.

Si Carpio puro press-release. Si Batongbacal, puro press-release + dramatics. DFA puro press-release + dramatics + yabang. Yet, they are not sending any notice to Chinese Embassy or call on the Chinese Embassy to strictly.
Ay.... duwag nga pala si digong. Este, tuta ng China. Keeping quite for a thief to enter and claim a part of your house means you are giving it away to the thief.

This is what Digong is doing... giving the WPS to Philippines, pero publicity nila is we are claiming it daw. How can you claim if you keep quite? They are making the people stnp!d. Ang mga dutertards, duwag din, uto-uto. Lahat kayo, either mapapatay kayo or you'll be put to jail for treason. They are all angry that US "plans" to set up strenght in PH, yet they allow "direct robbery" of China against the "direct ownership" of Philippines that is "internationally recognized as Philippines EEZ". Nasaan na yug mga rallyista? Nasaan na yung mga pulpol na against sa foreign invasion? Halatang bayaran sila. Duwag sa China or tuta ng China?

Constitution out, China’s goodies in
POSTSCRIPT - Federico D. Pascual Jr. (The Philippine Star) - April 22, 2018 - 12:00am

So what do we do – go to war? A friend asked that question (again!) – when we got to discussing yesterday the presence of Chinese military aircraft on a landing strip on Panganiban reef off Palawan, well within the Philippines’ 200-nautical-mile exclusive economic zone.

That’s the same no-brainer that President Rodrigo Duterte often asks to fend off criticisms that he has been too submissive – some say “cowardly” – in asserting Philippine sovereign rights in his talks with China on its artificial isles in the West Philippine Sea.

The President may be testing the limits of his prerogatives as the country’s spokesman in foreign relations. His continued failure to actively protest China’s military outposts built on Philippine territory could just raise constitutional problems for him.

A case in point is Panganiban reef (international name: Mischief reef), where two Xian Y-7 military transport planes were photographed Jan. 6 on a runway that had been constructed on the feature recently built up and militarized by China.

Diplomatic protests won't work against China.

Instead, the Ph should send a C-130 to the PLA airbase in Mischief Reef and request for an emergency landing because of engine trouble. When the plane has landed, heavily armed commandos would suddenly emerge with guns blazing!!

:fire:

Just kidding. There is always a time for everything....under heaven. A time to make war, time to make peace. More time to prepare.

Chinese military planes sa Mischief Reef, dapat iprotesta: Carpio
ABS-CBN News

Posted at Apr 24 2018 12:06 AM

I-Bandila mo, Mike Navallo. -

Beijing's Ministry of Foreign Affairs: "The so-called tribunal was based on the illegal claims of the Philippines from the very onset. Therefore, it very existence is not legitimate thus all the awards that it produces will be in vain and null"

Duterte engaging treason by keeping silent and freely giving WPS to China hiding under the cloak of a "no-brainer allibi".

TREASON. He must step down or be removed from power or force China to its word-of-honor na pinagmamalaki niyang kasinungalingan sa Bansang Pilipinas.

If he palabra d' honor, he should start challenging China, or better step down.

Duterte to Vietnam: Philippines not abandoning SCS ruling
Edith Regalado (The Philippine Star) - April 29, 2018 - 12:00am

SINGAPORE – President Duterte assured Vietnamese Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc that the Philippines is not abandoning the favorable ruling of the international arbitration tribunal on the West Philippine Sea dispute with China.

Presidential spokesman Harry Roque said the President told Phuc that he is not abandoning the West Philippine Sea ruling at all and that there will come a time that he will confront China with it.

Duterte and Phuc held a bilateral meeting Friday afternoon on the sidelines of the 32nd Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) Leaders Summit held at the Ritz Carlton Hotel here.

Roque likewise said it was the first time that he heard the President telling another head of state that he is not giving up on the West Philippine Sea ruling.

Kung hindi sya duwag, kung tunay syang maka-Pilipinas, he should say that to Pres. Xi Jinping with utmost stress and with action. Otherwise, it is a plain publicity stunt the way he fools the Philippines
