FORT DEL PILAR, Baguio City—The Philippine Military Academy (PMA) is inching closer to becoming a world-class military training academy, as a reform program, called the PMA Roadmap 2015, evolves into a transformation guide to 2028.

PMA Roadmap 2028 accelerates the academy’s infrastructure modernization program and revives the training of foreign cadets, said Maj. Gen. Oscar Lopez, who replaced retired Vice Adm. Edgar Abogado as PMA superintendent on Saturday.

Lopez was appointed by Armed Forces Chief of Staff Gen. Emmanuel Bautista who oversaw the turnover ceremonies.

If the PMA wants to be a world-class institution, the first problem they have to tackle is hazing.

I agree. Hazing promotes low morale and a superiority complex to people who do it to other people. It would be a great challenge to tackle it, in my opinion, seeing how politicized the AFP has become over the years, reforms notwithstanding, thereby bringing about a corrupt atmosphere that include nepotism, bias and whatnot.
