If i may comfort you a little.. This is what RP-US defense Treaty states: Article V[edit] For the purpose of Article IV, an armed attack on either of the Parties is deemed to include an armed attack on the metropolitan territory of either of the Parties, or on the island territories under its jurisdiction in the Pacific or on its armed forces, public vessels or aircraft in the Pacific.[5] If the chicom touch the island for sure Americans will be drawn into war as well. In Pag-asa we dont talk only on our armed troops but civilians as well so very likely that UN will come to act also. Philippines is not vietnam of the 80s.. The whole world turned their eyes the other way. In our case it would be very special.. Just ask japan and of course(though a little shameful to admit) Uncle Sam. |

Maybe we should just hand-over Pag-Asa island to the US military? That seems to be the backbone of the AFP anyways. I'm being a tad bit cynical in case anyone is wondering. Why? Because anytime there is a security threat, instead of actually improving the AFP, we all run to Uncle Sam. We're behaving more like an oversees US state. Edited by Marschall, Jan 15 2014, 12:16 AM.

But who is the greater fool - the savage or the one that gives him power? May Truth rebuke you. | |

"Easier said than done" If ever there's any truth regarding this article, PLA Military is definitely having a wet dream of an impossible dream, they really should wake up to their senses before the Mountains, Monkey and the Chicken gets fed up and decides to cut their arms, legs and their tongue.. -Do they really think that they can achieve all of these absurd suicide ambition plans? -Do they really think the US will allow themselves to be humiliated and stripped of their standing & role as the World's Superpower Military?? -If they (US) where able to step up as the Worlds Supreme power back then in WW2 up to present and now having the most advanced sophisticated state of the art Military Technology, weapons, etc. all of which are unparalleled, I really don't know what makes these substandard copycats think they can win??? Maybe they (China) think having the capability to shoot down their own satellite in space is enough to topple the US and it's Allies..? My advice to the wet dreamers, Maybe they should double check their sources again for they might have been misinformed as to the kind of chicken they will be dealing with, they might think it's just a white leghorn when all the while it's a "Black Labuyo!" |

Seriously. Although the practical military threat China has today is quite low, do you want the government to act like pre-WWII Britain, France and pretty much of Europe, just looking at Hitler's Pax Germanica dream to blow over and deluding themselves that they would not invade? The Chinese are far more unstable thinkers than you think. I say now; if the PRC has managed to kill millions of their own people for political perfection, then what is taking a few islands to them, and then damning the consequences? |

At the very least make it very difficult for them to take it so that if ever they think something bigger they will think twice. How far is Pag-Asa from Palawan anyway? Is it too far that anti-ship missiles cannot reach it?? |

The only best ways I can think of to foil any kind of China's plans for good is for PH together w/ the US, to ratify their temporary basing agreement ASAP and include PAG-ASA Island to be used as FOB as well, re-taking control of Scarborough shoal area. PH/ US to build Naval dock and rebuilt airstrip then park some US Destroyers, Subs and a couple of US Angry birds.

Well, yes. Pag-asa Island (Thitu Island) is nearly 500km away from its nearest horizontal point from Palawan, which is Bacuit Bay. If we acquire truck-based BrahMos AShMs, then we might be able to get them, although it would remain still on the extreme fringes of its range. Air-launched missiles are another story, however. Even Geagles could make it from Palawan, but severely limiting its loiter time, making the geagles good only for hit-and-run attacks, having no time even for proper target acquisition. Plus, its combat prowess still remains to be seen; AGM-65s aren't necessarily stand-off missiles. |

Why we belittle ourselves in depending our country? Russia vs Afghanistan, Vietnam vs France & USA. These countries fought that with less superior weapons but won the war. Some of the suggestion about bunkers, defense missile, no of artilery, etc. The best weapon is Intelligence. I know Filipinos are great in getting intelligence so if they knew that an attack was a tactical plan like 1995 mischief occupation, 2013 st thomas shoal, 2014 PAGASA invasion? If there is a pattern, I think, what we can do send a handful 20 persons Highly specialized weapon, send to Hainan, China destroy there Vessel and armaments in a covert operation. This is only to delay the arrival, inform our allies, USA and Japan about the situation. Better to plan now our defensive strategy like stock of machine gun, arm-surface to missile, bazooka that can hit far away vessel & tank. Many snipers. I remember the movie that came from history the "Enemy of the gates" wherein russian fought only with sniper versus tanks, airplane, & artillery. As, I watch the movie, I am so inspired to give hell to China if they tried. I am willing to give them a headache and held the island in defensive mode. The ISRAEL and HESBOLAH wherein they fought and the Israel did not move forward and remain to Southern Lebanon. We must have that mind set for them not to engage and realize that fighting us will entail delay. |

I think its just a bluff for now. They will not risk their reputationand be branded as WARFREAKS as of now. Maybe in the future they will start a war in it.. Our government should focus on defense right know to prepare for the inevitable... |
