A lot of nations seems to be overly critical on DFA Sec Yasay. Not that I do not think China might choose to double down on their own but if our DFA Sec. first reaction is perceived too combative or confrontational in nature it would only make things worse as it is and things become even more tense as it is. I agree with the do not flaunt and taunt tactic. At least for the meantime. We can always come up with a more strongly worded statement later on depending on China's reactions. And we should be monitoring what they actually do and not just what they say. The ruling already speaks very loudly for itself. Let's give this administration some time to fully study the almost 500 page decision and react appropriately to China's next moves.

Speaking of moves. China is strongly considering a unilateral (illegal) ADIZ on the wps soon. FYI, this is not anymore simply China vs Philippines anymore after a favorable ruling. The US, Japan and even the EU and most of not all world powers is with us.

China's foreign policy with regards to the South China Sea Arbitration procedures:

1.) Ignore the proceedings because you don't recognise the court.

2.) Try to influence the members of the court which you don't recognise.

3.) Threaten to ignore the verdict of a court which you don't recognise.

4.) Bash the unrecognised court for being manipulated.

5.) Lament, rant, and wail - all because of a decision which you don't recognise.

Hong Nam's advice to the China:

1.) What you don't recognise, doesn't exist.

2.) What doesn't exist negates any complaints you've thrown against it.

3.) You are complaining about something you don't recognise... Why complain about something which doesn't exist ?

4.) If you want to blame someone for something which "never mattered" - blame those who failed to recognise what should have been recognised.

5.) Put simply:
SHUT UP

China attacks Japanese judge who appointed South China Sea tribunal

South China Sea (Reuters)
Wed, 13 Jul 2016-02:13pm , Beijing , PTI

China on Wednesday launched a blistering attack on the jurists of a UN-backed international tribunal that struck down its claims over the strategic South China Sea, saying a Japanese judge who appointed the arbitrators "manipulated" the judgement against Beijing.

Except for a German judge who was appointed at the instance of the Philippines - the petitioner in the dispute - the rest of the four were appointed by Japanese jurist and diplomat Shunji Yanai, China's Assistant Foreign Minister Liu Zhenmin told a nationally televised media conference here.

Claiming that the Permanent Court of Arbitration in The Hague has no international status and its judgement can not be enforceable, he specially targeted Yanai saying he is a former Japanese diplomat and assisted Prime Minister Shinzo Abe. Yanai manipulated the tribunal against China by appointing four judges from different European countries. These judges were not paid by the UN and who has paid them, Liu asked. The judges - all European and one African - living in Europe has no knowledge of Asian history and culture, he said.

The possible unilateral ADIZ to be put up by China can possibly back fire on them as well. Remember, an ADIZ does not only affect the Philippines but all foreign aircraft flying over it. Add that up that unclos ruled in favor of not only the Philippines but all countries affected by the 9 dash line and it doesn't matter if they are Asian countries or not. If the US, Australia and EU countries think am ADIZ or freedom of navigation over international waters is in peril they will act on it esp now that all claims by China has been ruled illegal or without merit.

They are risking themselves to be branded an international outlaw by the G7 and other world powers and significant countries. And those 9 or so countries they say is why them are really small and significant countries like Niger.

Hong, can I use what you wrote here?
What you wrote here is brilliant.

Half of the FB people probably won't even appreciate it, but for those who do -- that's a pretty strong message.

Now that PH has the upper hand, legally over China regarding WPS, PH EEZ territories etc. I hope PRD will be wise enough to fat track big ticket items on the AFPM's list, particularly for external defense materials.

IMO, PRD should also consider a few big ticket Interim acquisitions along side AFPM Plans, to be used as task force to protect PH interests in WPS and the Country as a whole from any kind of external threats.

The idea of acquiring AA, AS Missiles, AS Radars to equip all commissioned PN ships, mobile shore based AA & AS Missiles and leasing a Squadron of (6-8) more potent Fighter Jets should be considered, if they really want to secure and protect PH Interests and Sovereignty.

Like many here have said before, all of the above should have been planned and done in anticipation, along side the filing of the Tribunal Case against China.

In this case, "Right is Might" won't work without having "Might" available when you need it.

Let's hope PRD will be wise enough to consider all of these in the future ASAP, especially if they really want to widen PH Economy with regards to Oil & Gas Explorations in the WPS.

FYI, If O/G Explorations are successful, the Philippines won't be needing China to invest on any kind of projects in PH nor our AFPM won't have problems with funding it's acquisitions and can have a one off, much bigger initial budget , to be able to achieve having a State of the Art (like Singapore) a "FORMIDABLE" Armed Forces of the Philippines.

ULAN BATOR, Mongolia - Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe agreed with his Vietnamese counterpart that an arbitration court's decision this week on the South China Sea must be observed, Japan's Kyodo news agency said on Friday.

The court in The Hague ruled China has no historic title over the waters of the South China Sea and that it has breached the Philippines' sovereign rights with its actions, infuriating Beijing, which dismissed the case as a farce.

A news Article from my FB Friend who happened to a correspondent at The Forbes wrote below;

China owes the Philippines and other countries more than $177 billion in rent and damages for China’s South China Sea fiasco. The Permanent Court of Arbitration found on Tuesday that Mischief Reef is a low-water elevation and within Philippines’ exclusive economic zone. This gives the Philippines’ indisputable legal rights to the reef. But since 1995 when China occupied the reef, China irreparably harmed the reef’s delicate marine ecosystem by dredging and building an artificial island there, including a military garrison and air-strip.
