And on the sidelines... Politics rears its ugly head anew.

Are Roque's statements politically inclined since he is affiliated with Vice President Jejomar Binay (who resigned from cabinet) and is running for senator under UNA's banner???

Palace, Roque continue word war over Hague delegation
By Louis Bacani - Philstar
July 8, 2015

MANILA, Philippines - The word war between Malacañang and international law expert Harry Roque over the Philippine delegation in the South China Sea arbitration continued on Wednesday.

In a press briefing, Presidential Spokesperson Edwin Lacierda responded to Roque who questioned the Philippine government's hiring of international lawyers in arguing the arbitration case it filed against China before a tribunal at The Hague, Netherlands.

Lacierda explained that foreign lawyers were tapped because of their competence, expertise and experience in facing an international tribunal that Filipino counsels lack.

"I think Mr. Roque is trying to be specious in his statements. I'm a lawyer. I can answer him straight why we need international counsel, and he knows the answer to that also. So stop asking questions that you know the answer to. Mr. Roque, who is by the way running for senator under the UNA (United Nationalist Alliance) party, so anything that he states right now should be deemed with any political undertones."

- Presidential Spokesperson Edwin Lacierda

Roque answered back, saying Filipino lawyers are capable of defending their country in international courts.

On Tuesday, Roque questioned the size and cost of the Philippine delegation in the arbitral hearings that was composed of 35 officials from the executive, legislature and judiciary. Roque said the public funds spent for the big delegation could have been used to help Filipino fishermen who have been affected by China's incursion in Philippine waters.

Roque brushed off Lacierda's tirade, insisting that the Palace should reveal how much it has spent for the Philippine delegation.

The delegates comprising of 35 officials from the executive, legislature and judiciary means that the Philippine Government is very serious in this case, in which, the fat tummy Roque don't understand, its either by the whispers of his corrupt boss binay, or the leftist communist whispers.

Even before him joining the very dark side, I already surmised he is an evil in disguised.

He likes to parade himself, do pro bonos on sensational cases especially meant, not for justice, but to target the limelight... the media, and all its accolades. this way he can bargain himself up as a very celebrated lawyer to the rich and the corporates. so pro bonos are his way of investment. not that its not good, he helped a lot of poor folks through this... but its rarely an advocacy. never for him.

and joining the dark side for next year's Armageddon just confirms my feelings. he should have atleast dun the independent route if he really plans of joining politics, but no. evil has a way of attracting its kind. :demon: :demon: :demon:

this arbitration case had been going on a long time already. YET the fat guy only sounded alarm just today after joining the dark forces?

mmmm

The good news? HARRY ROQUE might have just watched the recently released DFA WPS documentary part 3 :lollol: and probably learnt from there that the PH hired high caliber arbitration lawyers. and probably salivates on how much salary they are getting. :scared:

he's just an ordinary lawyer compared to justice jardeleza and justice carpio... yet carpio and jardeleza went to hague to defend our rights and are not complaining of these foreign hired lawyers.

he's a destabilizer and an opportunist in my opinion.

Let's just give our moral support to the delegation. Other claimant countries are morally supporting us on the sides. Some more vocal on their moral support, some strategically silently supporting us. Unenforceable or not... winning at the very least will give us moral victory and will give us moral and ethical high ground if we choose to defend ours militarily now or in the future. It will also give moral and ethical high ground for current and future allies to defend us if we need help militarily. Only positives can come out of it.

And China does not care? It will be forced to care once the Int'l community are all in agreement. Don't underestimate China's 'loose face' culture. They will get affected and forced to care one way or another.

As Darth Vader famously said: "I find your lack of faith disturbing".

I thought the name sounded very familiar. Is he the lawyer in that murdered transgender case? The clown who encouraged the German lover to climb over the fence of a military secure area?

It figures... No surprise at all.

Philippines: China flouting UN maritime laws

Agence France-Presse
Posted at 07/08/2015 11:20 PM
THE HAGUE - The Philippines has appealed to an international tribunal to declare China's claims to most of the South China Sea illegal, warning the integrity of United Nations' maritime laws is at stake.

In opening comments to the tribunal in the Hague on Tuesday, Foreign Secretary Albert del Rosario said the Philippines had sought judicial intervention because China's behaviour had become increasingly "aggressive" and negotiations had proved futile.

Del Rosario said the UN's Convention on the Law of the Sea, which the Philippines and China have both ratified, should be used to resolve their bitter territorial dispute.

This Atty. Roque was the one who defended the ex-man (formerly a man and now a woman or a dead woman) which has caused unneeded problems on our Visiting Forces Agreement. And now he is spinning problems for the arbitration. This man seems to be on the way of every solution this country is doing to curb the Chinese aggression. And now he wants to run for senator. Is this man running for the Philippines or the Chinese Senate? coz he seems to be helping the Chinese more than the Filipinos.

Take that fat guy... as you seem to be uniting with the mainlanders instead. :dunno: :dunno: :dunno:

Solon: Talk to China but drop arbitration issue

ABS-CBNnews.com

MANILA - A party-list lawmaker believes the Philippine government can continue bilateral talks with China without having to raise Manila's arbitration case against Beijing before a United Nations tribunal.

Speaking to radio DZMM, Magdalo Rep. Francisco Ashley Acedillo noted that the Philippine Constitution actually spells out what the government should do in terms of foreign policy.

"Our Constitution requires us to be in amity with all nations. That takes care of the policy," he said.
