Philippines to present China sea case at Hague in July
Agence France-Presse
June 15, 2015

MANILA, Philippines - The Philippines will argue its case against China's claim over most of the disputed South China Sea at The Hague next month, the foreign department said Monday, June 15.

The Netherlands-based UN court is scheduled to conduct a hearing from July 7 on a case lodged by the Philippines in 2013 which China has spurned, foreign department spokesman Charles Jose said.

"Right now we are preparing for the oral arguments in The Hague on July 7 to 13. Our team from Manila and from the United States will be flying there," Jose told reporters in Manila.

Philippine officials and diplomats, assisted by US lawyers, will represent the country in the proceedings, Jose said.

PH to raise environmental impact of China reclamation

by RG Cruz, ABS-CBN News
Posted at 06/17/2015 5:37 PM
MANILA - Malacanang said it will continue the diplomatic track amid reports China is about to complete the reclamation works on islands in the West Philippine Sea.

"By next month, there will be hearings on the International Tribunal for the Law of the Sea. So, our petition will be heard next month," Presidential Spokesperson Edwin Lacierda said.

"We have taken the diplomatic track. We have taken the arbitration track. At the same time, we have also taken the diplomatic track in the sense of coming up with the Code of Conduct in the South China Sea. That code of conduct is now with China to look into."

Carpio: Even if PH wins case vs China, struggle will continue

http://globalnation.inquirer.net/125548/carpio-even-if-ph-wins-case-vs-china-struggle-will-continue

Quote:

But Carpio said even if the Philippines win its case, getting China to comply could become an intergeneration struggle.

"If we win, all those reclamations of China are illegal and China has no right to stay there and China must vacate; but of course that’s the big problem how to enforce the ruling," Carpio said in a television interview over GMA News TV’s "State of the Nation."

Quote:

"Initially they will always say ‘we will not honor, we will not comply’ but the cause of noncompliance is much more than compliance so eventually they will comply. It will take time. So we should look at this as a long-term struggle even an intergeneration struggle. This generation will win that ruling, the next generation will convince the world, and the generation after that will convince China but we should not expect instant gratification here if we win this."

MANILA, Philippines - A high delegation of Filipino officials will attend next week the start of the oral arguments on the Philippines's arbitration case against China, Malacañang said Friday. In a press briefing, Deputy Presidential Abigail Valte revealed that top executives from the three government branches will fly to The Hague where a United Nations arbitral tribunal will open the arbitration court proceedings on the South China Sea dispute.

Valte said the officials include Senate President Franklin Drilon, House Speaker Feliciano Belmonte Jr., Foreign Affairs Secretary Albert Del Rosario, Defense Secretary Voltaire Gazmin and Justice Secretary Leila De Lima. Executive Secretary Paquito Ochoa Jr. is now in The Hague to meet the Philippines's lawyers, Valte said. Palace Undersecretary Emmanuel Bautista, the previous Armed Forces chief of staff, will also go there.

Supreme Court Senior Associate Justice Antonio Carpio, who has been holding public lectures on the sea dispute, will also join the delegation along with Associate Justice Francis Jardeleza and Solicitor General Florin Hilbay.

China lobbies hard ahead of Manila's South China Sea arbitration case

By Greg Torode and Manuel Mogato

HONG KONG/MANILA (Reuters) - China's claims to the disputed South China Sea will come under international legal scrutiny for the first time this week, but while Beijing has officially refused to take part in the case filed by the Philippines at a U.N. tribunal, it has made its presence felt.

Indeed, Manila's international legal team was heading to the Permanent Court of Arbitration in The Hague to initially argue that the five-judge panel has jurisdiction to hear the case, Philippine Foreign Ministry officials told Reuters.

Don't worry guys, most especially to the doubtful Max Montero, who instead of exhibiting support with his much deeper knowledge on the issue is showing a crack in his mental fortitude. This after admitting that he is not based in the Philippines anymore and couldn't care less and instead created an Asian defense blog which centers on PH defense issues.

Thankfully the chest stompers has Plan B, I beleive Max doesn't... :lollol:

PH has 'Plan B' in case tribunal won't hear case vs China

MANILA - The Philippines has a "plan B" in case a United Nations arbitral tribunal will decide it does not have jurisdiction over the Philippines’ case to protect its sovereignty over islands in the South China Sea (West Philippine Sea).

"We have a plan B, but we can’t disclose options at this time considering how sensitive this issue is," Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) spokesperson Charles Jose said in an interview.

I suggest now that max scrambles his insiders to have a glimpse of this Plan B so as to alleviate any pain he has on his chest :drunk:

I guess his plan b is to get out of the Philippines and tell what he thinks is best for the country while living in another.

China-criticized docu to be released as PH goes to UN court

by Carolyn Bonquin, ABS-CBN News
Posted at 07/06/2015 7:06 PM
MANILA - The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) is set to release the final installment of the three-part documentary on the West Philippine Sea called “Kalayaan”.

The third part, entitled "Kalayaan: Paninindigan para sa Karapatan", delves on the legal aspects of the Philippines' arbitration case against China. The documentary tackles the Philippines arguments in claiming its right to the South China Sea islands.

Supreme Court Justice Francis Jardeleza said arbitration is the best legal process to resolve the 18-year dispute with China.
