Bakit mga Sirs, pweydi naman ma modify any Government bills especially if like there's national security concern diba?

The Biazon bill was already modified even before it was merged with the Lacson bill. Tapos when the 2 bills merged they already also modified it again. The merged bill is the final bill and once the President signs it it is Law already. Tapos na. Dinaanan na po namin yan last year na sana lakihin pa yung budget kaso nahirapan talaga sila tukyin saan manggaling yung source ng funds. May Black projects and State secrets pa naman but as far as the AFP modernization bill is concerned its only $1.8B over 5 years. Of course we will never know if there's actually Black projects and State secrets for sure and how much. Kaya nga Black projects and State secrets. |

@Frog, I just cited the $2B Biazon bill annually idea, ikaw ang hindi maka gets, the purpose of my suggestions are the same with others here na para push and suggest a possible better idea and that's why I was suggesting as well regarding exploration venture options (w/o hassles) that are just waiting to be awarded... KAYA NOW WE KNOW WHOM NOT TO VOTE, YUNG MGA LIMITADO LANG ANG KAALAMAN AT MGA MAKASARILI! sorry OT, Edited by AVBsupersonic, Jan 24 2013, 03:03 AM.

$1.8 billion would not be able to provide us with a "minimum credible defense capability" when the threat is coming from China. |

Hello?!!! |

When the Gov't did not file the case to ITLOS most were complaining. Now that they have filed it some people are still complaining?? Geez. Who and how it will be enforced if we win? Let's hope China abides but then again AFAIK, China needs to accept the case and be subjected to the arbitration. If they don't then it won't prosper. So, what we get from all of this? It cements the fact (in the eyes of the world) that we were sincere in resolving it diplomatically and we will have legal basis so that when the time comes that we really need to defend our territory world opinion is on our side and we have moral high-ground to use force to defend our territories and that will extend to any country wanting to help as well. They will have very good reasons to help us. |

It's logical though, as we are in a position wherein all that is left for the Philippines to do is to complain. Seriously, we lost Mischief Shoal: did we get it back? No. Now, we also lost Bajo de Masinloc. Will the Chinese voluntarily give it up again and embarass themselves? Not impossible, but not very plausible. As I have pointed out earlier: The Chinese now have effective control over the occupied territories and all they need to do is to ignore us and nothing will happen. As for an armed confrontation: this will only happen if we attempted to forcefully regain lost territories - which, however, would allow China to say "see, them Pinoys fired the first shot! We wanted a paceful resolution!" Obviously noone would believe that they wanted to resolve the issue peacefully, however, they would not fire the first shot and they have no need to. They have control and all they have to do is to keep the status-quo, i.e. nada. It's obvious that the ChiComs have been planning these things strategically - always thinking ahead, whereas the Philippine Govt. seems to always be lagging behind: simply reacting to situations without any contingency plans. As for our "moral highground": having the world's moral support is one thing, having foreign military backing another. One thing is for sure: militarily, we stand no chance against China - unless the Philippines dedicated itself to a continuous and effective upgrading and modernization of its military forces. But as you said earlier: we'd have to wait and see what the next President intends to do. Ergo, there are only two options for success: 1) China agrees to back out of the occupied areas and recognize Philippine sovereignty over them. 2) The Philippines manages to mobilize foreign military support to regain control over the Chinese-occupied territories. In my estimation, none of these two is very realistic. |
