The possibility of China implementing an Air Defense Identification Zone in Western Philippine Sea is not that far from happening, their declaration of ADIZ in East China Sea that is being contested by Japan, US and SK is just a trial to test the reaction of Washington and it's allies as to how far will they go. The Chinese Ambassador to the Philippines already stated that "It was within the right of the Chinese government to decide where and when to set up the new Air Defense Zone!"Ma said.- Published on Philstar Headlines. As you all know of their "Cabbage" strategy against the Philippines, which resulted to their aggressive move successfully controlling "Panatag Shoal" w/ less or NO resistance at all.. In PH case, the difference between Japan's Senkakus is that the US didn't give their full support to PH's Scarborough Shoal stand off, unlike Japan's Senkakus. China is very cleverly adapting their "Art of Fighting without Fighting" techniques in lots of ways, they first started off with handing out irresistible, lucrative loans to greedy and needy Countries around the World later on becomes the victim, especially to Superpower Countries in order to cripple them in case any future judgement against China arises. "Planting seeds and reserving them for harvest later on." Whilst the possibility of the Philippines getting into a skirmish against China regarding WPS, in the future, is not that far from happening, maybe it will only take some Spratly's Vietnam like massacre for our brave soldiers to take matters into their control, own minds and also the Filipino People to make the move on their own. If all of these scenarios happen, we may find ourselves alone, due to their scattered planted seeds waiting to be harvest at the right time.. We'll only find out who's on our side when it does. off: As some of you well know the fact on how expensive it is to live abroad, especially in some Countries in Europe which is where I'm based right now, there are sometimes situations when you need to tighten your belt as well, to make this long story short, One day I fancied eating Salmon for dinner, given that they are expensive, I tried to look for good deals/ offers from supermarkets and ended up buying some. When I got home, I was surprised to see the packaging of the fish.. "Even the fish majority of the "cheap deals" are all produced in China!" NEVER AGAIN FOR ANYTHING THAT'S CHEAP! Going back closer to topic: From little things to BiG things they are everywhere, World Countries and their Govt. which are greedy, eager to sell. mark up and make huge profits for their economy on "cheap" imports coming from China and the more we consume them, the more they will be successful in their mad ambitions. In the Philippines case, having a BiG issue against China, our legally right move in filling protest against them to ITLOS/ UNCLOS is our only advantage, the weakness of our Armed Forces makes us very vulnerable, making us an easy target to them, their silently creeping, instilling greed on power, money, corruption in all our system... There are two wars that are happening right now, it's the one that we see and the other one that we don't see is called the "silent war" which China is currently winning... The PRC just found out that "the cabbage strategy" won't work w/ Japan especially with the US backing them up all the way, so they are taking it to the next level resulting to the implementation of East China Sea ADIZ including Japanese controlled "Senkakus Islands," which they dispute. Now imagine, China successfully snatched the Philippine controlled "Panatag Shoal" last April 2012 maybe because of no US backing us up on our rights not just claims. A CHINA ADIZ in WPS to support their 9 dash line claim is really not that far from happening or maybe it's already in their drawing plans, just waiting to be ordered and implemented. The only best move for the Philippines to foil their possible ADIZ plans in WPS is getting the new PH/US temporary basing agreement done ASAP! PH should ask some support to acquire/ buy (MRFs)from them(US) partly in return for their stay, in order for Philippines to have the capability to protect/ defend itself and it's interests, to have the necessary backing to resist any possible China ADIZ. |

You've read my mind. I think the possibility is good but whatever happens we need the help and do consultations with US, Japan and other allies. I also think we need a new DND sec. I think we need a pro-active DND Sec. Heck, sometimes DFA Sec. Del Rosario is more up to task than Gazmin. MRFs being offered to us as "gift" either wholly or partially subsidized is very possible esp. since there are undelivered Egyptian F-16s lying around with the possibility of not being delivered soon. It deserves more monitoring than it is currently being given, IMO. If that doesn't pan out there are more military equipment they can give us as 'payment'. Being paid 'cash' as rent like before is not going to happen anymore. They didn't even trust our politicians with the Yolanda aid and given orders to give it directly to the people. they will give in 'kind' as 'payment' and most likely military wares. |

If the Philippine Govt. doesn't do anything to counter this possible China ADIZ in WPS, we will definitely lose ALL our territories and PH airspace. The Aquino Govt. should use this issue as an opportunity, expedite plans to acquire Air Defense Radars and the (12) FA-50s from South Korea and revive the planned acquisitions of the two Maestrale's from the Italians which are battle ready & can be delivered in 6-mos, upgrade PFs-15,16 w/ AA, ASM, MANPAD Missiles, the Philippines should also ask the US for help to purchase/ acquire US MRFs and Air Defense Radars that both Countries can use, to review and include these acquisitions in exchange as part of the US/PH Basing Agreement. As a Nation, we must have the capabilities to secure and protect, defend the Filipino People, our Country, it's territories and Interests. Our situation is very much different compared to Japan, they have the capability, the necessary Military hardware to protect and defend their own, while the Philippines don't at this point and time. We can't and we shouldn't expect the US to fight our battles, we should be able to do this on our own, but we have their (US) full support in worse case scenario. The best way to approach and handle this particular issue is for PH to take note and follow how the Japanese backed by the US are handling the East China Sea issues, but we can't do all of these without the proper Military equipment(s) we need for defense. The need to expedite the capabilities of the Philippines to be able to defend itself is a MUST, fast track it's territorial defense plans, particularly in the Air and Sea in order to repel China ADIZ plans in WPS. ^Before the ratification of the PH/ US Basing agreement, IF THEY AGREE w/ all the terms that we proposed, we can ask the US maybe, to include initial deliveries of (4) F-18's C,D's asap since some of are Pilots had already passed their tests, evaluations on these birds before... |

Mr. Boning, you're making me wish you were the DND secretary! Good point on the revival of the Maestrale order btw. |

Well, our decision last time to reject F-16's from the US seems to have been a bad one... |

Thanks Marschall! I wish.. If we think about it, DFA Sec. del Rosario performs and acts better than DND Sec. Gazmin, just like Enrile during the Marcos Govt. w/ resolve "at may asim!" Just like how a US DND would act. Wrong move nga iyan eh (appointment), considering because of the exposed of some "PABAON" Generals, I'm not saying that he is one of them, but just saying that might be better for a civilian background to do the job. The perfect strategy: The Philippines and especially the US should take advantage of the present situations. -for the Philippines and US to agree with all the terms of both parties w/ the inclusions like my simple idea/ suggestions above 5^up and to ratify the agreement asap! -after all of the above suggestions are done, the Philippines together with the US to quickly plan and enforce Philippine ADIZ in WPS, to apply pressure, same like what and how they are doing it with Japan's problems in Senkakus Islands. It's like hitting two birds with one stone, the two birds would be the Philippines and Japan and the huge block of stone behind it is the US. "pwede pa nga 3" if we include South Korea. TO SHOW HOW MAJORITY AND HOW WIDE THESE OPPOSITIONS ARE AGAINST CHINA ADIZ! This should give them(PRC) a "bloody nose." Edited by Andres Boning, Dec 4 2013, 08:33 PM.
