I served the military too.. Though i never fired a gun in combat but instead i served as PHysical Therapist for our troops in V.Luna.. Oh boy i did a lot of talking with our troops that erap sent to raid the MILFs camps. Nobody among those i treated will say something nice to that drunk former president.
My point, you are defending the wrong man. I believed you are standing up in midst of us not to raised the morality of this discussion but for your love to erap. He can bow down to chinese all he wants but all his action wont matter for the ENTIRE country because we all know who he is.
Like what i have said before.. He is joke on our country's history.

@Maverick 13330

If anybody judged the former president Estrada It was you not I. As a Physical Therapist you should have taken note that the morale and esprit de corps of the AFP was a record high when then President Estrada ordered all out war against the MILF. He was the only president with the guts to kick the ass of the MILF. All base camps including Abu Bakr were taken by the AFP. If memory serves me right in the after action reports I read... AFP suffered 139 KIA while MILF suffered more than 500 KIA. Had he been not ousted in a political coup, development would have pushed through. Erap is still remembered with respect and fondness by the men and women of the AFP in that Mindanao campaign. Remember that Erap was pardoned without any conditions by then PGMA. I have great respect for then President Joseph Estrada. He is still a hero to many Mindanaoans and the AFP who were with him all the way!

Gents, including Nonong,

Your discussion of Estrada is beginning to be a tangent from the main topic of the HK Bus tragedy of 2010.

Please get back on topic, or I will lock this thread!

Hong Kong and Filipino representatives met but failed to reach consensus on Thursday over who should deliver an official apology and the amount of compensation for victims of the 2010 Manila hostage incident, in which a government rescue operation failed to stop a retired policeman from killing eight Hong Kong tourists.
The Thursday discussions covered four main topics -- who should deliver the apology, the amount of compensation, how to punish those responsible for what the Hong Kong public saw as a botched up rescue operation and how the Manila city government should better protect foreign tourists, Tu said. — Reuters

The online news portal of TV5

MANILA - Hong Kong lawmakers support a call to withdraw visa-free access for Filipino visitors to the shopping destination over the 2010 Luneta hostage fiasco that soured the diplomatic relationship between the autonomous Chinese territory and the Philippines.

According to an article of the South China Morning Post, a non-binding Legislative Council motion urging the suspension of the travel privilege appears set to be approved on Wednesday with parties from across the political spectrum indicating they would support it.

The move is seen as a form of pressure on the Philippine leadership and Manila city government to compensate families of eight Hong Kong residents killed by sacked policeman Rolando Mendoza, as well as those who were injured in the incident.

If they withdraw visa free entry for Filipinos then so be it. I'll dare them. Just imagine how their economy will suffer. Remember that Hongkong's economy is based on Tourism. As Clint Eastwood say..."Go ahead punk, make my day!" :brrt:

Manila Council and the Mayor is such an @@@@@le. Nananahimik n nga ang issue regarding this matter, then they came barging again and thought they are much brighter people than Malacanang. :armytwisted:

I heard the news yesterday a Manila councilor saying its no issue if the President apologizes and he will not appologizing on behalf of the Filipino people but for himself alone. What the heck is he talking about!!! :headbang:

China urges PHL to give HK an 'earnest response' on Manila bus hostage tragedy

"We demand that the Philippine side earnestly respond to the concerns from Hong Kong's society about this, especially the hostage family members' reasonable demands and take measures as soon as possible to give a realistic response. We also hope that the government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region can continue to maintain communications with the Philippines side about this issue," Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Hong Lei said.

Speaking ahead of a debate by lawmakers calling for sanctions against the Philippines, Hong Kong leader Leung Chun-ying urged the Philippine government for a "concrete and timely response".

Leung did not specify what the sanctions might be. Hong Kong has sought an apology and compensation for the victims' families.

I wonder if Erap's scheduled trip to HK still a go!?

Entry ban passed on Philippine visitors
By Kahon in Hong Kong

Legislators also endorse amendment demanding trade sanctions
Hong Kong moved closer to retaliating against the Philippines on Thursday as lawmakers passed a motion to withdraw visa-free access to the city for Philippine nationals.
The non-binding motion could herald the start of other measures, including possible economic sanctions, over the killing of eight Hong Kong tourists in Manila three years ago.
The move follows an ultimatum from Chief Executive Leung Chun-ying on Tuesday threatening to take “necessary action” against Manila unless substantial progress is made within a month in negotiations to resolve the dispute.
