Im sorry Im not in the position to confirm that, all I know and can say is SAF's assault teams were ready but were not utilized.

No truth to the allegations that we lack the training and equipment - SAF has all the weapons, equipment & vehicles required for that type of operation and operators were highly trained here & abroad with the US FBI's Hostage Rescue and Israel's YAMAM.

until now, i'm wondering why the MPD decided not to ask the SAF for reinforcement despite knowing the fact that they're too ill-equipped to deal with the hostage crisis unlike the SAF.

UK not advising vs travel to Philippines
INQUIRER.net

MANILA, Philippines—In the aftermath of the tragic hostage-taking at the Quirino Grandstand, the United Kingdom is not advising its citizens against travelling to the country.

“In response to the incident, the British government has not upgraded the level of our advice and we are not advising against travel to the Philippines. We have, however, included a factual reference to the incident in the text of our travel advice. This is standard practice for events of this type,” the British embassy in the Philippines said in a statement.

In the same statement, British Ambassador to Manila Stephen Lillie echoed the message of British Consul General in Hong Kong Andrew Seaton and expressed his condolences to the families of victims who were killed and injured in the hostage-taking.

The 22 tourists who were in the bus hijacked by dismissed police captain Rolando Mendoza were mostly from Hong Kong, a former British colony.

Pride?

MPD commanders not willing to share the limelight, overconfidence?

Police: Hostage-taker did not kill self

Quote:

The Philippine National Police said on Wednesday there is no evidence showing that the former police officer who held Hong Kong tourists hostage in Manila on Monday, had killed himself.

PNP spokesman Senior Superintendent Agrimero Cruz Jr. said the gunshot wounds on dismissed Senior Inspector Rolando Mendoza were from high-powered firearms.

On Monday, in front of the Quirino Grandstand in Manila, Mendoza hijacked a tourist bus carrying 21 Hong Kong Tourists and four Filipinos. After an 11-hour bloody drama, nine people died — Mendoza and eight Hong Kong tourists.

"There is no indication nagbaril sa sarili. M-16 rifle, high-powered rifle ang tumama sa kanya (There is no indication he shot himself. Our initial tests showed he died from gunshot wounds caused by a high-powered M-16 rifle)," Cruz said in a briefing, parts of which were aired on dzBB radio.

Cruz said they recovered around 59 shells from an M-16 rifle from inside the bus, as well as shells from a cal-.45 pistol.

Meanwhile, he said the PNP is analyzing Mendoza's cell phone to see whom he spoke with before the assault.

"Yan iniimbestigahan pa, pati lahat na conversation (We are analyzing it, along with clues about his last conversations)," he said.

Meanwhile, the bodies of seven of the hostages were brought to the Ninoy Aquino International Airport at noon Wednesday.

At least two mobile police teams escorted the remains to the NAIA's cargo area. – VVP, GMANews.TV

Damn! :headbang:

The most senior officer who blocked the SAF's deployed should be dismissed for gross negligence.

The right people and equipment are already there, ready to act, but not one among the senior officers noticed this?

Amazing.
