Raytheon providing border security system to Philippines Published: Aug. 23, 2013 at 3:35 PM DULLES, Va., Aug. 23 (UPI) -- The U.S. Defense Threat Reduction Agency has contracted Raytheon to design and build a maritime border security system for the Philippines. The contract -- Raytheon's first border security-related contract in Southeast Asia -- is for two years and worth as much as $18 million if all contract options are exercised. "The Philippines contract extends Raytheon's border security solutions portfolio to Southeast Asia and confirms that our integration solutions, program management leadership and international expertise are valuable as we expand our support of customers around the world," said David Appel, director of Surveillance, Range, and Infrastructure Solutions for Raytheon's Intelligence, Information and Services business. "With this contract, Raytheon continues its role in providing critical services and solutions to help other countries deter, detect and interdict illicit weapons and materials that could harm their citizens." Under the award, the company will design and build a National Coast Watch Center, support integration of data from various agencies into the NCWC, and provide acquisition, installation and training on an automatic identification system for the Philippine government. Raytheon will ONLY be providing the sensors/radars and the integration network? http://www.raytheon.com.au/airshow2011/newsroom/maritime_surveillance/ So this contract is inline with our separate acquisition of long range maritime patrol aircraft where this Raytheon's instruments will be installed. |

^NCWS to my understanding is sort of a situation room for the AFP. Raytheon will integrate all data feeds from all CWS, from ships (limited number) and possibly soon from aircraft too. |
