Philippines vows to defend territory against China AFP News – 3 hours ago ![]() -- AFP News/Philippine Government - An aerial view of BRP Sierra Madre, a 100-metre ship built for the US in 1944, grounded at Second Thomas Shoal in the Spratly Islands. The Philippines vowed Thursday to "defend what is ours" as part of a stand-off over a Chinese warship circling the South China Sea reef which is occupied by Filipino marines The Philippines vowed Thursday to "defend what is ours" as part of a stand-off over a Chinese warship circling a South China Sea reef which is occupied by Filipino marines. The Philippines this week protested the "provocative and illegal presence" of the warship near Second Thomas Shoal, but China brushed off the complaint with an insistence that the area was part of its territory. Philippine foreign department spokesman Raul Hernandez said Thursday the warship, along with two patrol vessels and a fleet of Chinese fishing boats, remained near the shoal. "They should not be there. They do not have the right to be there... no-one should doubt the resolve of the Filipino people to defend what is ours in that area," Hernandez said in a text message to AFP. "Our navy and our coastguard are mandated to enforce the laws of the (Philippine) republic." <snipped> Second Thomas Shoal is a tiny group of islets and reefs in the Spratly Islands chain, about 200 kilometres (120 miles) northwest of the Philippine island of Palawan, the nearest major landmass. <snipped> Second Thomas Shoal is guarded by a handful of Philippine marines aboard a World War II-era ship that was deliberately grounded there in the late 1990s to serve as a base. It is about 41 kilometres (25 miles) east of Mischief Reef, a Philippine-claimed outcrop that China occupied in 1995. Second Thomas Shoal and Mischief Reef are within the Philippines' internationally recognised exclusive economic zone, and surrounding waters are rich fishing grounds. Last year China took control of Scarborough Shoal, another bountiful fishing area far closer to Filipino landmass than Chinese, after a similar stand-off ended with the Philippines retreating. China's announced defence budget of $115 billion this year is nearly 100 times more than the Philippines'. Philippine President Benigno Aquino this week announced a planned $1.8-billion military upgrade to defend the country's maritime territory against "bullies". |

With all the humiliation we got from Malaysia, let Filipinos be killed rather than lose Malaysia's friendship; says sorry to Taiwan for fatally wounding a fisherman who poaches in our seas, and just watched them staged a naval drill and show off their guided-missile destroyers and frigates, we don't have none, and their Exocet-capable Mirage jet fighters, near our northern waters; and hopelessly and helplessly just watched Chinese warships and civilian CMS ships intrude into our rich fishing ground waters and watches over their fisherman who openly fish in waters which is supposed to be for our own fisherman, and dared the Philippine navy to arrest them lest their suffer being fired upon.. and nobody even gives a f--K! |

China, give me weapons, and you have the concession to the WPS. Do whatever you want and I will not touch you. Where is defending the WPS and our areas? Hayst. We should place 2 batteries of 120 towed-Howitzer and 2 wheeled howitizer and RPGs, even it is is a minimal defense of the islands. |

Ansakit, double-talk.... “The Philippines shall remain an enemy to none and a friend to all in its pursuit of economic and political benefits for the country, including the long-term security and stability in the region,” DFA said. Pero DU30 immaturely created enemies in US and EU, to pursue better friendships with China and Russia. http://globalnation.inquirer.net/158728/dfa-pinoy-fishermen-back-business-off-scarborough-waters |

Technically, -with WHAT..? The Philippines only needs to purchase the ff. in order to secure and protect PH EEZ's, like RECTO Bank, Malampaya, Philippine Rise and other Territories around the Country by just acquiring Mobile Land based long range "Anti Surface Missiles or Anti Ship Missiles launchers" and Mobile S-300 "Surface to Air Missiles", MLRS Systems, Tunguska AA tank from Russia in order to give China something to think about.. These weapons can also be easily deployed on PN Ships PF-15, 16, LPD's, or Private Cargo/ Tanker Ships if needed, giving instant Self Defense Missile Capabilities.
