East China Sea: Dress Rehearsal for Invasion?

Real Clear Defense

Quote:

August 30, 2016

The various scenarios for war in the East China Sea, and possibly in the South China Sea, usually fall into two main categories. There is the “accidental” fight scenario. A Chinese destroyer’s radar locks onto a Japanese warship. The Japanese captain fires back in self-defense and the incident spirals out of control.

That is one scenario. Another, possibly more realistic, is the “swarm” scenario: Several hundred “fishing boats” sail from ports in Zhejiang province for the Senkaku, where they overwhelm the Japanese Coast Guard by their sheer numbers.

This time, the fishing boats land some 200 or so commandoes disguised as fishermen or “settlers.” The Senkakus are not garrisoned by Japanese troops, so no shots are fired. The Chinese side says it is not using force, merely taking possession of what it claims to be its sovereign territory.

YES, These selfish bastards can very well do ala "Crimea Russian style" Invasion in Senkaku, but that would be their gravest mistake..
Like what it says in the article, "The Senkakus are not garrisoned by Japanese troops", but it will be an act of ALL OUT WAR against Japan and not to mention, it's Ally the US, who has been very vocal of their support on Japan's Senkakus Islands to be part of Japan.
It is the same thing now with Scarborough Shoal, China may have regular deployments in the area of their CMS, Fishing fleets etc. but they can't build anything their now.. (Post Hague Ruling) It's now officially classified as PH Territory but w/ communal fishing Rights.

China’s Maritime Militia a Growing Concern
By: Christopher P. Cavas, November 21, 2016
WASHINGTON Near the top of US Pacific Fleet commander Adm. Scott Swift’s concerns is China’s People’s Liberation Army Navy (PLAN), and close behind is the country’s burgeoning Coast Guard. But a third government-controlled seagoing force, the little-known and somewhat mysterious maritime militia, is drawing increased attention.

“Let’s be careful to not characterize them as, you know, a rag-tag group of fishermen. They’re well organized,” Swift told a small group of reporters in Washington Nov. 18.

Chinese trawlers travel farthest and fish the most: study
Gerry Doyle, Reuters

Posted at Feb 23 2018 07:34 AM

China has the world's largest and farthest-ranging fishing operation, outstripping the next 10 biggest combined, according to what researchers say is the most comprehensive and data-intensive study on the subject.

Ships from China amassed approximately 17 million hours of fishing in 2016, mostly off the southern coast of their home country, but also as far away as Africa and South America. The next-biggest operation is Taiwan's, with 2.2 million hours of fishing.

How China’s squid fishing programme is squeezing its neighbours and creating global sea change
A government estimate of China’s share of the market underlines its ability to set the agenda, through numerical advantage and demand for its data
PUBLISHED : Sunday, 17 June, 2018, 8:34pm
UPDATED : Monday, 18 June, 2018, 1:45pm

Critics have said China keeps high-quality squid for domestic consumption, exports lower-quality products at higher prices, overwhelms vessels from other countries in major squid breeding grounds, and is in a position to influence international negotiations about conservation and distribution of global squid resources for its own interest.

Fishing ships from China have accounted for 50 to 70 per cent of the squid caught in international waters in recent years, effectively controlling the supply of the popular seafood, according to an estimate by the Chinese government.

Where are the pirates when you need them?
Seriously? BWAHAHAHAHA
:lollol:

If there will be pirates, then China will have additional alibi to have an armed patrol and ride in all small vessels as suspicions of sea pirates.

Please don't say that. Philippine Executives Spokespersons to China, DuRoqCay, might get an idea and send their private armies or fund from NPAs to act as pirates to support their China boss for an armed patrol
