Capt. Agnes Lynette Flores, PMA spokesperson, said the AFP medical board also allowed the academy to receive all female cadets who passed rigorous entrance examination and physical and medical tests that followed.

PMA had expected 276 newly selected cadets to arrive here on Monday for the traditional reception and oath-taking rites, among them 19 valedictorians of various high schools in the country.

Flores said they were selected by the PMA cadet procurement board from the 1,096 who passed the entrance examinations in August last year. Vincent Cabreza and Frank Cimatu, Inquirer Northern Luzon

These incoming batch of PMA plebes barely remember the 20th century if at all. These kids were not even aware of the EDSA II revolution that toppled Erap and brought GMA to power. Most of them remember only two presidents, GMA and Noynoy.

Makes me feel old!

it's easy to see that many females can pass the academic entrance exam for the PMA. but will they fight like men if they are called in to do so?

there are other young men who had been restricted to enter the PMA to serve as officers and perform duties where women are incapable of performing, in the future, just to make room for these females.

why this political correctness had been taken too far, is beyond me.

PMA valedictorian almost quit on her second day
Published March 13, 2017 2:54pm

Reaching the top of the Philippine Military Academy Salaknib Class of 2017 was not easy for Cadet 1st Class Rovi Mairel Valino Martinez, who came close to quitting on her second day at the academy.

In an exclusive interview on Balitanghali, Martinez said she was overwhelmed by the pressures at the PMA on her second day.

"Pinakamahirap is yung second day ko po kasi iyon po 'yung time na gusto ko na mag-quit. 'Yung first day kasi 'di ko siya masyadong namalayan kasi sobrang daming nangyari," Martinez said.
