aren't we forgetting something what about the Russians and their cost effective, high performance munitions that they produce. also india too anther treat to china, increase relations with india and ask for their long range indo/russian brahmos, maybe we can fit this into our vessels further extending our engagement range. maybe with the help of the US x-band radar (if installed in the philippines) with its 2000km range we will get a better situational awareness and we can co-ordinate ambushes against vessels and aircraft when were at conflict with china. also italian munitions. companies like the MBDA with their marte (latest version has range of 100km +) anti shipping can be used for navy and army its cost effective and offers a good punch. oto molera with its strales/draco system, 105mm turret etc. since we are an allly of america then ask for upgrades on our armoured vehicles such as the m-113 and lav-300 and upgrade some of them with the genareal dynamics 105mm turret (like the ones on the stryker), its a lightweight turret which allows us for more armor upgrades so it can withstand 30mm rounds. all the big ticket items such as the mrfs (typhoons), lifts, frigates, asuw choppers, medium lifts, guided missiles (a2a and a2s), subs should be bought first while the small ticket items such as AH, armored vehicles etc are for later because some of these can be produced locally by us. while thats happening our srdp is taking place: firarms, AT weapons, mortars, 105mm, armoured vehicles, force protection, communications, basic wire guided missiles, laser guided rockets, liscence produced manpads, liscence produce muntions, un guided muntions for the army as a deterrence in case if our airforce and navy gets smashed. mpacs, missile boats, lcu, maybe corrvettes with foreign equipment for the navy and pcg. ucav/uav, maybe choppers, maybe turbo props for air force to act as a basic air support. like what my teacher said "if your cheating your only cheating yourself" same applies for the afp. |

Blessing in disguise for RP Posted by Online on Dec 18th, 2012 SOURCE Manila, Philippines – “A blessing in disguise for the country.” This was how outgoing Philippine Navy Flag-Officer-in-Command Vice Admiral Alexander Pama described the territorial dispute in the West Philippine Sea (South China Sea). “What’s happening now in the West Philippine Sea is a blessing in disguise not only for the (Philippine) Navy but for the country,” Pama said. “People are beginning to realize that we are indeed a maritime nation and we have to protect our maritime interests. It may not be a re-focus, because we’ve been doing that (patrolling and enforcing Philippine maritime laws) ever since. But we need to highlight that fact in the psyche of the people.” He remarked. The biggest challenge now, according to Pama, is: What do we need first to secure our maritime domains? “We cannot have physical presence if we don’t have wherewithal,” he emphasized. The Navy chief cited as an example the 1994 incident in Mischief Reef which is just 130 miles away from Palawan, well inside the Philippines’ Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ). The Philippines once largely controlled this feature and Filipino fishermen used to fish at the reef. However, the Chinese government was able to build initial structures on stilts at the reef while the Philippine Navy was not patrolling the area due to the monsoon season. “The Mischief Reef was taken because we were not able to go there immediately,” explained Pama who is set to retire on December 21. “Because of our non-physical presence, because our ships were small, we had that lesson.” He said the need to have ships that can conduct patrols despite bad weather has been “in our wish list.” “We need these kind of ships for those environments,” said Pama. “Because there was a time when during southwest monsoon we cannot even go there (South China Sea).” According to Pama, the April 2012 standoff in the Scarborough Shoal was also a “game changer.” “China’s reaction to the incident was unprecedented,” he pointed out. “We can no longer ignore what is happening there.” (Roy C. Mabasa) Edited by Hong Nam, Dec 18 2012, 12:57 PM.

The expectation in many Asian culture is for the little man not to make waves or not to fight back against the overpowering Lord. the little man is supposed to bow and kneel and not cause problems - sounds similar ba to the propaganda news we hear from the communist bully ?? nasa sa biktima na kung lalaban siya o hindi.Although mahalaga ang magkaroon ng malalakas na kagamitang pandigma, importante rin ang willingness to fight kasi once alam ng kalaban na lalaban tayo ng lalaban kahit maraming patay ay mahahawa o maiilang rin yan sila. look at vietnam, nag-paduro ba sila sa french, american at chinese ?? hindi ! never ! aside from willingness to stand-up to bullying is willingness to sacrifice to buy the needed war equipment. you need to have both to have a better fighting chance against the bully. our leaders or leadership since centuries ago is just a reflection of the Filipino people they represent. lets admit it, many of our countrymen are a fun-loving people and prefer to cover-up or ignore problems until the last minute. mas maganda pa kasi mag-bolahan na lang o mag-talumpati. Similar to what Admiral Pama said, it would be a blessing in disguise if a chinese missile landed in the congress building, then thats the time people will be wide awake at saka pa siguro kikilos ng tapat at husto ang ating opisyales

If you don't want a modern and capable AFP, you might want to get the f*ck off the Philippines because you don't deserve to be a Filipino that's why!

If I were the President, bakit natin aantayin na makapag mobilize ang mga beho sa darating na bagong taon Jan 1st 2013? Like what I suggested, dapat diyan inuunahan na natin at ibalik na pagkatapos ng pasko yung mga barko ng (3)PCG natin sa Panatag na nakabantay ang PN PF-15 o PF-11 kasama ang PS-35,37 with "standground" orders, refurbish and modify an old LST armed with M-198 howitzers, 50cals., 20mm MG's from mothballed F8's, F5's at iwanan sa loob ng Panatag na may naka poste na PMarines at the same time allow the Protester volunteers, Former Marine Capt. Nicanor Faeldon na pagunahan kasama ang mga Pilipinong mangingisda para sa ating bansa at mag imbita ng Foreign Media. Para kapag nag kamali ang mga beho ng kilos, sigurado Internationalize ang issue... Edited by AVBsupersonic, Dec 18 2012, 07:58 PM.

I hope that history will not simply repeat itself: the ChiCom will try to play down the situation after a while and the PH Govt. will return to not bothering anymore about properly modernizing the PN and the PAF. We have some more guns and another gunboat, but that's it then for another couple decades. If this is all the Govt. can do, then losing territory is not only inevitable, but also its own fault. |

But who is the greater fool - the savage or the one that gives him power? May Truth rebuke you. | |

"The thief from Mischief Reef" got away because our capability actually got worse. That should have been a learning lesson. We should have made a real effort to modernize when that occurred. But we never do. We are always hiding under the skirt of MDT. Oh how I wish that MDT was not around for I'm sure we will scamper to look for solutions to defend our country. Now the thief is back and have stolen another one, Bajo Masinloc. What is next, Half Moon Shoal or Sabina Shoal? |

Gentlemen, The turn of events from last year in the area of Scarb. Shoal and the continual habitation of the Chink ships (giving the Phil. the middle finger) is exasperating for those of us who care about the Phil. Add to that, the permanence of the Chink station in Mischief Reef and you have total humiliation. For what country in the world allow these kinds of intrusion in their territory. Granted that there are disputes in land boundaries with claims and counter claims, these kind of issues are still viewed by the world as nebulous and therefore, treated as a stalemate rather than capitulation. What the Phil. have is a country wantonly intruding its waters, with reckless abandon and building structures, which is akin to an antagonist defecating on ones face and yourself doing nothing about it. The situation is so full of ethnic atrocities added by blatant lies, that the ethnic victims cannot and should not wait for a slow 'recovery' before retributions are demanded. How can one sit idly and remain oblivious unless one is shameless. Many cannot wait for this slow, slow mobilization with all its ups and downs (deals made, deals lost, learn how to weld two pieces of metal together, buy this or buy that) before govt can make their counter move. It reminds me of tales where a man is struck down and the widow waits until her toddler son is raised to manhood and hope she can exact revenge through her son. This seems to be the case with our govt where waiting is the name of the game until such time when a whole fleet of ships, squadrons of fighters and bombers, divisions of army fully supplied, and after having waited for money to trickle in. This will take years and years of waiting. The Chinese on the other hand have decided to put a new face on with their "change of leadership" (whether this is just a change of puppet leaders or not, we can't be sure) and is on a new "peace" mission trying to lull the Americans and gullible Filipinos into believing that there will be no other aggressive action taken on their part. Hence the words coming off their lying mouth saying, "We are your friends so let's explore together." And, "The Phil. should not take aggressive moves thinking the Americans will help them." That means there are no reason for Americans to help because we the Chinese, will not move any farther. Therefore, you Filipinos should not worry too much. So in essence, the Communist, with their usual modus operandi, have taken 2 steps forward and now show a one step back.......until further notice. My call for a response is a response within reasonable time where enough muscle be built-up to fight with. The previous 2-3 posters I had called for a quick build-up of the PAF. There are fighters (EFT 1.5s) and bombers in Italy that are ready to go. No other opportunity can be had anywhere else in the world at reasonable price for fighters that can challenge the Asian air forces but those ready-to-go Italian fighters. The other European countries (correct me if I'm wrong) are not selling or are, but may not be for the same affordable price. What is the govt. waiting for??????????????????????? Add to the PAF assets, ASMs on mobile land launchers with the accompanying vehicle mounted SAMs and auto cannons, and old ships (I call muscle ships) to physically push Chink ships out. It will only take some months to accomplish these. Perhaps the bomber pilots can be trained faster if their only mission is to shoot targets. Fighter pilots lightly trained can go as far as shooting on BVR mode and then exiting fast. There is not excuse for the govt to still be on zero strength until now. So what's taking them too long in getting those Italian fighters and bombers. It's not as if they a whole array of choices. Can someone light up large fire crackers on the DND leaders' @sses to wake them up? PS And what of Mischief Reef? If and when the fight for Scarb. begins, they should simultaneously do so on and for that reef too. Any positive agreement reached on the shoal should also apply to the reef. To ignore the reef, will still show lack of courage. Edited by wily_pest, Dec 19 2012, 04:11 AM.
