The problem of the US is more of the economic repercussion rather than military. No question about their military commitment will be there but sometimes (for most part now) their economic problems at home overwhelms their military objectives.

Just to think who will finance the yearly trillion dollar deficit of which China buys an average of 10+ billion worth of long term bonds a month makes you wonder why they are tight-lipped and would not confront China in its adventurism. At the end of the day it will depend on the leadership but not with Obama who is a free spending socialist. It will be imperative that we remain cool but firm and not be the initiator. I think that when the shooting begins the US will be at our side because the repercussion is much greater if they are to remain a true super power of the free world. Then the US can get rid of its 2 trillion dollar obligation to them!

One way we can make ourselves really look good or important to the US is that some of the monies in the foreign reserves be invested in long term US treasuries. A la China. That will give the US something to think about. Hire Goldman Sachs and put in the US economy about a billion a month? I believe 12 Billion of our reserves are invested somewhere and of which 20% are in the US (2-3 billion).

Does anyone know about the wish list?

what Admiral Pama said is really obvious and commonsense. as an independent nation, we take a stand to defend our interests , our territory and our constitution. thats all mentioned in our national anthem - "ang mamatay nang dahil sa iyo" .if we cannot take a stand if US will not support us, and just tremble or be neutral bow down like cambodia, then its better to be a slave state and drop all pretense to be an independent nation.

whether our economy is good or bad, the lawmakers have no choice but to allocate a credible amount of money for the AFP defense budget simply because the requirement of a sovereign independent country is to have a minimum credible defense. otherwise, these lawmakers are violating their oath or pledge when they assumed office to defend or uphold public laws and the constitution.

speaking of the wish list, the AFP had various wish lists that vary, but the american items they wish for in the past and/or the present include:
harpoon missiles
Whecs/Wmecs
naval guns( 25mm, etc)
cyclone class
HAWK SAMs
radars
F-16s
F-18s
C-130s
Hueys
M-198 155mms
M-35 trucks

alam na ng mga kano yan, problema is we need to put up counterpart money and the kano will help subsidize. kung ayaw tayo bigyan ng kano ng mas malaking halaga pa kumpara sa israel at pakistan, wag tayo magalit kasi siempre yung mga kano they follow their national interests first. tayo naman we need to follow our national interests first and buy from the nations with the cheapest yet most cost-effective defense equipment - more bang for the buck. now that we the 75 billion, the kano is now wide awake ready with their subsidy or counterpart money to try to compete with south korea and italy :lollol: . . its all business mga companyeros !

AFP must not announce it to the public because those bullcrap close-minded lowlife dumba$$ f*cksh*t go**amned traitor rallyists might cry for the demilitarization of the Philippines.
Wait...demilitarization? WE NEED TO MILITARIZE! Them bastard geniuses...

Pardon my language. That's really how I describe the CPP's militant wing.

But nothing is impossible. Everything has a chance, including miracles. Hope for the best and expect for the worst although I feel a bit optimistic right now. It will all depend on the decisions of the top brass. Will US maintain its interests in the Middle East and try contain China at the same time or will it focus on only one side?

If you don't want a modern and capable AFP, you might want to get the f*ck off the Philippines because you don't deserve to be a Filipino that's why!

The truth is, if DND concentrated their efforts in obtaining (1) EFT 1.5s, attack planes (Mirage 2000-9 or AMX), train pilots since last year using used trainers and (2) land launched missiles and SAMs, auto cannons for defense, the Phil. should be ready by early next year to challenge the Chinese for Scarb. shoal.

Instead the DND is working backwards. They seem to be obtaining support assets such as helicopters, 127mm cannons, headquarters' relocation / renovations, etc.

Warships as you know are longer to procure as they are only made available when foreign ships are retired.

What they should do is expedite training and acquisition of the assets I mentioned above. They should have pilots training in Italy if need be, get all the a-a and asm missiles etc. etc. TIME IS OF THE ESSENCE!

Also get those retired cargo ships from abroad, paint it with PCG colors and send it to the shoal..........then AFP, u will be in business!!!!!!!!!!!

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MY_Bob_Barker

The above link shows an old ship that was bought and refitted by the Sea Shepherd Group used to harass Japanese Whaling Ships supposedly operating illegally.

Ships like these or bigger can be used by the PN for the same purpose (counter harassment) of the Chink "survey" ships guarding the shoal. The PCG should have ships of these types just stationed for this purpose alone as the Chinese claim is going to be a long long issue. In fact with time, the PCG should install water cannons on it and have concealed small arms and manpads, just in case.

If I remember correctly, this was bought by Bod Baker for a mere $1M. A drop in a bucket considering its ship size and capability. Since the Chinese always like to overwhelm with numbers, I would recommend the biggest and sufficient no. of ships that can navigate the waters around the shoal.

as i said before in this forum, soo many times (seems like i need to force it into their heads)
do same thing as the algerians did:

Quote:

Structuring the Deal: Anatomy of a Euro-Squeeze

The biggest issue hanging over the deal was a $4.7 billion debt outstanding from past purchases of Soviet arms. As the next section notes, buying advanced Russian arms is nothing new for Algeria. UPI notes that the logical question arose: if there was no money to pay the debt, how would Algeria pay for all of this new equipment?

Enter Russia’s energy sector, in the persons of LUKoil CEO Vagit Alekperov, Gazprom chief Alexei Miller, and Igor Makarov of independent gas producer Itera. UPI believes the final arrangement is that Algeria will give gives Russian companies access to oil- and gas-rich regions, with the proceeds split between the producer and the Algerian government. The Algerian government is then bound to immediately transfer the revenues to Russian arms manufacturers, until such time as the debt is paid off.

http://www.defenseindustrydaily.com/algerian-arms-deal-brings-russia-75-billion-gas-market-leverage-02024/

we can do this when procuring russian, italian etc and especially US assets because if we do this with the US their survey teams can do the finding of the oil and if the chinese harass them then the US has an excuse on why they are sending ships to the WPS. as for the russians the chinese cant touch them. while at the same time we are buying ourselves some time and we are getting lots of assets without the worry of budget.

PHILIPPINES, STOP COUNTING YOUR PENNIES AND START SPENDING YOUR MONEY!!!!!!

1. Get those 28 European Typhoons already and get those pilots trained in Italy ASAP.

2. Get 2 squadrons of attack planes; whichever ones can be made available right away (AMX or Mirage 2000-9) and get other pilots trained in Italy or France.

3. Commandeer any old Phil. cargo ships (never mind painting them) under "eminent domain law" and assign those for Scarb. Shoal duty.

4. Get land launched Exocets from France (if the US is dragging its tail) with SAMs and buy radar guided cannons (there are many on fire sale in Europe).

Do not say we can only get one squadron and be the laughing stock of ASIA and the world. Remember, the whole world is watching! Time to wake up and shine!

USE IOU BONDS IF need be AND MAKE FINANCIAL ARRANGEMENT LATER. You need to work with ACQUISITION TEAMS each dedicated to a particular asset to EXPEDITE. GET young energetic, savvy, English-fluent managers to lead those teams.

China is about to go to the moon.
