Ping ! One of the Andrada class patrol boats being used to look for the crashed plane in masbate has a side-scan sonar according to news reports. is this sonar normally used for mine-detection ?? or was this sonar borrowed from a fishing company...... what would be the military applications of side-scan sonar on a small patrol boat ?? I remember when the PAF C-130 crashed in Davao, a PN boat with sonar was also used to look for the C-130. the boat was one of those older VU boats used for assault. I forgot if that sonar was borrowed from a fishing company or if it was PN property. The Cyclone class is supposed to have a WESMAR sonar while the some or all of the Govt research vessels also have sonar(NAMRIA, BFAR and BRP Explorer(mines bureau) By the way, ito ay cincuenta mil dollares($50,000) lamang: http://www.iver-auv.com/?gclid=COLy4KaC97ECFUbZQgodHEAAKw Edited by pachador, Aug 21 2012, 04:16 AM.
