Tel Aviv PE, Filcom Bid Farewell to UNDOF Commander Mgen. Natalio C. Ecarma III
13 August 2012, Camp Ziouani, Golan Heights – the Philippine Embassy in Tel Aviv, together with the Filipino Community in Israel, attended the farewell ceremonies in honor of Major General Natalio C. Ecarma III, Head of Mission and Force Commander of the United Nations Disengagement Observer Force (UNDOF), who ends his tour of duty today, 13 August 2012.
The program was highlighted by the presentation of the gift of the Philippine contingent, testimonial message of Ambassador Generoso D.G. Calonge and the farewell message of Mgen. Natalio C. Ecarma III.
gimped.watermarked.re.ambatestAmbassador Generoso D.G. Calonge said, in his testimonial statement, that General Ecarma has rendered significant service not only to the Filipino people but to the entire community of nations for two and a half years. He noted that that it is a rare opportunity to command a multi-national force and, at the same time, a distinct honor and privilege for a uniformed officer and his country to be bestowed such a chance.
The Ambassador took the opportunity to inspire Philippine military personnel to emulate the dedication of General Ecarma in the service of peace and stability in the Golan Heights. He expressed his hope for General Ecarma to excel in whatever endeavor he would embark after his stint at UNDOF.
General Ecarma, for his part, thanked the Philippine Battalion, as well as the previous contingents, for the full and undivided support to his leadership and to his mission and vision summarized in his motto "One Goal, One Team, One Mission."
Major General Ecarma assumed command of the United Nations Disengagement Observer Force (UNDOF) in March 2010 as Head of Mission and Forcegimped.watermarked.re.genecarmawithamba Commander tasked by the community of nations to preserve peace and stability in the Golan Heights.
