Chinese govt vessels back in Panatag Shoal; PH awaits arbitral tribunal MANILA – It’s confirmed: Chinese government vessels are back in the Panatag Shoal (Scarborough Shoal) area a mere 124 nautical miles from the Philippines’ Masinloc municipality in Zambales, the Department of Foreign Affairs said Monday. Manila is not looking to file filing another note verbale this time, however. Asked why, DFA spokesman Raul Hernandez said the government must choose when it is “appropriate” to protest Beijing’s aggressive stance in Philippine-claimed territories. “We choose when it is appropriate. It is also important to know that other actions are being taken by the Philippine side together with our partners in the ASEAN (Association of Southeast Asian Nations) and through the legal track like the arbitral proceedings, which we hope [would] proceed as soon as possible,” he said.“ The arbitral tribunal has been formed. We expect [it to] convene very soon,” Hernandez said.Last January 22, the Philippines brought before an arbitral tribunal under the International Tribunal of the Law of the Sea (ITLOS) its maritime and territorial disputes with China. http://thespratlyjournal.blogspot.com/2013/07/chinese-govt-vessels-back-in-panatag.html |

China won’t abandon Panatag Shoal MANILA, Philippines - Despite the reported departure of Chinese vessels from Panatag (Scarborough) Shoal off Zambales, China will still not give up its claim over the area, a defense expert said yesterday. “China will not abandon Panatag Shoal after exerting efforts to establish control of the area despite international pressure against it,” Rommel Banlaoi, vice president of the Philippine Association of Chinese Studies, told The STAR. He said that leaving Panatag Shoal will run counter to China’s current strategy of maintaining control and influence in maritime areas that China considers an integral part of its sovereign territories. http://thespratlyjournal.blogspot.com/2013/07/china-wont-abandon-panatag-shoal.html |

Dapat, our fishermen should have timed to go to Panatag during the Carat Exercises. That was the time the Chinese left. The fishermen could run to the nearest US/PH ships if CMS tried to chase them. But come to think of it, a daily report of the sightings of their presence and publishing it gives them a negative publicity. We can turn these incursions against them and turn these into filing of protests, evidence of their bullying tactics, a great example of an unreliable neighbor, a country who does not honor its words, etc. We'll have all the reason to keep publishing negative things because of this continued incursion. On the other hand, they're so MANHID they probably don't give a hoot what the world thinks of them. |

USA Said to the Philippines-Leave Panatag Shoal to China http://betterphils.blogspot.com/2013/08/usa-said-to-philippines-leave-panatag.html#.UgnsTci3NIo.facebook Tuesday, August 13, 2013 This article could be annoying but this could help each readers to think some possibilities. "Rebuilding for the Better Philippines" is not also anti Americans but we are just trying to figure out everything to give light some issues hidden by the government to the crying public. The Philippines could be a victim in this case. Aquino can be stubborn. But he listens to America. Last year, a month after he withdrew all the ships from Bajo de Masinloc, he, supported by the majority of the members of his cabinet, decided to send back the ships to the area which was by then already controlled by the Chinese. Upon learning of Malacanang's decision, the U.S. relayed the advice through defense officials that it would not be wise to send back the ships to Bajo de Masinloc . The ships were not sent back. Our source said, two weeks before the President's State of the Nation address, U.S. officials advised the DFA and Malacanang to tone down their anti-China rhetorics to reduce tension in the region. That explains why in last month's SONA there was no mention, not a word, about conflict with China. |

This article surely reads similarly like a "showbiz intrigue" column, and add Ellen Tordesillas to the recipe and voila... a very "intriguing-showbiz-like-blind-item" article... Just because the US asks the PH not to send back ships to Panatag Shoal, it doesn't mean they are giving away the shoal to China... it only prevents more Chinese naval ships and destroyers to come along with their maritime ships and possibly escalations... we all know that even normal rhetorics by PH government officials are hit back by "war threats" by the Chinese.. how much more PH naval vessels... And tying up the US debt and Panatag Shoal as payment to China?? How did they came up with this idea? |

It won't cool off the tensions. Like the president said "what is ours is ours" if we stand down that shows that we can be bullied by china. I say keep up with the pressure and become chinas poking stick. At the same time gaining allies and encouraging ASEAN to be unified to stand up against the bullies. I understand the tactics of buying us time to be ready for war, this is why we should prioritise and start procuring and pointing those land base ssm such as the brahmos at panatag this will make them think twice. And as suggested turn the tables around and send the pcg if they send their naval vessels then they will get the bad impression winning us lots of support from the international community. The reason why people continue to believe in conspiracy theories is that they are more exciting than the dull old truth. |
