Well...we did not act...we did not became brave and valiant idiots...but we still lose didn't we?

"We didn't act... We didn't become brave and valiant idiots... But we still lost, didn't we?"

Technicaly, idiots do not become brave and valiant because they have no idea of what they are doing in the first place.

Moreover, had soldiers died needlessly (as you feel you have lost already), I would never call them idiots. Those who sent them to their deaths on a whim, without proper assessment and tactical analysis are the idiots. Those who did nothing by standing on the sidelines, ill informed yet cheered them on are even the bigger idiots.

Sad to say but were on our own, unless we take urgent steps of developing our defenses along with every diplomatic solutions on sight just to buy time for the training of our men and purchase of needed hardware.

Just my opinion though, I may not be able to please everyone but its the truth.

Well said Mike.

The truth is sometimes the most painful of things to hear.

There is not much we can do militarily. But I believe we can use this to our advantage if we collectively band our people to rally behind a worldwide media campaign be it social network or your traditional TV/newspaper. But again that has got to start at the top. Pnoy can lead or the government can lead that campaign. We can turn this tragic event to our advantage.
For starters, photograph, video and publish these built up Chinese structures in Panatag Shoal. Next, use Loida Lewis to start the Fil-Am campaign and make it robust. Thirdly, use all the diplomatic means such as complaint to the UN, EU, ASEAN, ITLOS/UNCLOS regarding the arrogance and disregard to status quo by this bully. Put the burden on the US "to put their money where their mouth is" - I thought Hagel said that they will not accept any change in status quo in South China Sea? These are just some of the non-violent means to counter such move by the Chinese.
Then ramp it up by building structures in all of the islands we occupy. Put a pier and refurbish Rancudo Airfield in Pagasa. Then build a basketball gym in Pagasa and use it for publicity, school activities and even inviting our players to visit the islands. We can turn fun to an insult to these Chicoms. A campaign to smear the Chinese credibility that they cannot be trusted, liars and a bunch of thieves! Very irresponsible and not worthy of becoming a leader in the world community. Please let us not be shy in spreading this word. We are too nice as a people and these Chicoms have come to steal our shirt, our pants and the future of our generations.

i do agree with you that we are alone, infact i believe that we were alone since day 1. this mind set can be an encouragement for our country to ramp up its efforts on our defense. instead of just heavily relying for help that may never come. our government needs to man up or else the next thing they'll be doing claiming that philippines is theirs both historically and by law because of SCS.

This is actually a great idea. The problem is, are there any mediamen willing to get on such a dangerous endeavor?

We will see.

That's true Para, that's why it has to start at the top. Plus with all the media killings and intimidation, they will not have the balls to even open their mouth. Case in point, the last attempt that China was suppose to drag that oil rig to the WPS. Well, it was just Loida Lewis who rallied the Fil-Am's to protest in front of the Chinese consulates across the US. In spite of just a handful in each cities, it made a lot of noise. She did get the brunt of threats and attempted boycotts of her Beatrice Foods Chain but that multi-Billion dollar company has changed quiet a bit and she is no longer even the CEO. In the Philippines, it was very quiet. Maybe those PH media need to be paid before it will take a bold stand. I hope we are not waiting for something tragic before we wake up. Maybe that's what we need. We need someone to get the ball rolling. Where's Faeldon? Call Mayor Bito-onon!

Chinese ships no longer in Panatag
By Jaime Laude (The Philippine Star) | Updated July 4, 2013 - 12:00am

A senior security official said maritime and aerial monitoring showed no sign of any Chinese ship within the immediate vicinity of Panatag nor within its 75-nautical-mile radius.

“Since the other day, there have been no Chinese vessels monitored in the area,” said the official, who asked not to be named because he is not authorized to speak to the media.

Col. Edgard Arevalo, Navy spokesman for the West Philippine Sea, said his inquiries into the matter have yet to be answered by concerned authorities.

Possible reasons I could think of if this report is true:

> Typhoon season and the ships need to leave the area for safety purposes
> "Nagpapabango" due to the current on-going ASEAN forum
> They are preparing for a more massive deployment of ships
> The US-PH Carat exercise did drove the Chinkie ships away
> China made an outrageous-out-of-this-world-too-good-to-be-true decision of finally leaving the area for peaceful reasons...

Whatever the reason is, PH should keep a keen eye on this move by China... there might be a huge reason behind it. They can't be trusted...
