Jessie Dellosa yesterday offered to help Timor-Leste’s military improve its capability through education and training. Dellosa made the offer during the visit of his counterpart, Maj. Gen. Lere Anan Timur, in Camp Aguinaldo, said Armed Forces spokesman Col. Arnulfo Marcelo Burgos. <snipped> Burgos said the two countries will be crafting a memorandum of understanding on defense cooperation which will focus on “education and training, as well as institution building,” and pave the way for more “military to military engagements.” <snipped> Burgos said the visit of Timur seeks to “enhance bilateral relations between the Philippines and East Timor.” He said Timur arrived in Manila Monday night for a five-day visit. After meeting Dellosa, Burgos said Timur also paid a visit to Defense Secretary Voltaire Gazmin. Timur is due to meet also with Air Force chief Lt. Gen. Lauro Catalino dela Cruz, Navy chief Vice Adm. Alexander Pama, Northern Luzon Command chief Lt. Gen. Anthony Alcantara, Army Training and Doctrines Command chief Maj. Gen. Joel Ibanez, and Army Light Armor Division chief Maj. Gen. Carlos Luces. Burgos said Timur will also meet with Col. Abraham Cases, commander of the military’s Peacekeeping Operations Center.
