Your attitude is the sum total of your whole past—it is the way your mind looks at your life. All the good things and all the bad things that have happened to you have caused you to build into your life certain attitudes toward other people, the world and life in general.

Our attitude affects our future success as well. We all have developed some counterproductive attitudes. A proper mental attitude can be developed, but it only results from a long, persistent and conscious effort. Many quit in the face of the effort required. There will be setbacks and times of discouragement. Overcoming them all will make you a better and stronger person.

God believes you can do it. He says: "He who overcomes shall inherit all things" (Revelation 21:7). As Paul said, "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me" (Philippians 4:13). God knows that with His help you and I can change wrong attitudes. We need to believe it too, roll up our sleeves and get busy. It is worth the effort!
