well, as most most you may agree, random events can be a serious pain in the ass. The are persistant, frequent and highyl annoying at times. While fishing ir ead the rants section on runescape forums (my favorite) and i came across the best rant i have ever read. This guy brings up so many good points and the furstration random events cause. I think this is his second re-make of this thread, support him if you ever check his original out in the rants section, but here it is: (read it all) Author: Sawbla ""~The grandma chicken of breaded frog man...s!~ Yet another rant that seems to come up quite often in the rants forum, don’t you think, Jagex? Ok, what is the real, supposed, purpose of Random Events? To give rewards to honest players and to get rid of those filthy macros, right? Well, who can tell me they’re doing a good job? The rewards just aren’t good enough for higher level players, Jagex. This is another one of your ideas centered on lower level players. If you want lower levels to have them, fine, but keep them off me! The crazy chicken: This one is probably the one that I’ve heard many people dislike the most. It has rewards that are, what, some bones, 5 cooking exp, ONE ingredient for a cake and 200 feathers? Oh yeah, I’m really excited about getting this one. Gonna use that 5 cooking exp as best I can…by dropping it onto the ground and letting some Newbie choke on it and die. Dhorak users probably feel the pain from these guys more than anyone else, though. Even people who have 99hp, 10% of their health (rounded up) is only 10hp. So, the chicken comes while you’re using protect from melee and starts hitting 2’s and 3’s on you. Not too bad huh? Oh, no wait, you’re dead. The Mysterious Old Man: This one is probably the most annoying for me. It’s WAAAAY too frequent. The box may stop macros, I don’t know. I don’t know what the programs are capable of doing with Random Events now days. Either way, for us honest players, we don’* want your stupid trash! I swear, I must have gotten around 300 sapphires from him now. If I’m lucky I might get an emerald. Now, just hold still, Old Man, while I look for the most blunt object I can find to stab you with. Evil Bob: For this one, I have found a new hate. I was full on magic logs, I tried to teleport back to Lletya when Evil Bob appeared. Ok…so I have so waist my time getting fishing exp when I WANT Woodcutting xp and gold pieces! I don't want to waist 15 minutes there getting your stupid “uncooked fish.” I don't want to drop my magic logs, I don’* want to not be able to just teleport out of there. I WANT TO RIP YOUR THROAT OUT FOR BRINGING ME HERE! Come on, I’m level 98, you don’t think I’d be able to take on a cat? Quiz Master: I really hate this guy too; he comes too often for me. Not as often as the Old Guy, but still very often. And what do I get? 1k gp or a *Surprise Box”? Well, thanks, Jagex, but I don’t care for it. Give me 20k, give me a box with a rune axe in it, give me a Dragonstone, I don’t care, but I do NOT want a stupid mithril longsword! Frogs: I have almost 20 of these “frog tokens” now. I don’* want any more; in fact, I don't want that stupid frog to ever bother me again. Why don’t you stop hanging around the wizard who changes you into a frog! Get some Newbie who started yesterday with 100 total levels who wants Prince Robes to kiss you. I don’t even care about the Prince Robes. Sure, getting some clothes that very few people have within the first days the random event is there is cool, but in the long run, it’s not worth it! Sandwich Lady: Ok, the first time I ever got her she told me to take a “Baguette.” Well, I don’t know about you, but I am NOT French. I, like many of my friends, mistook it for the bread roll. "She hits you with a Baguette!" Oh. -.-" Then there’s the fact that if she comes while you’re fighting, you have to get teleported because you can’t choose one of the pieces of food fast enough. "Thanks for your moldy piece of goose-pimple pie lady, but I’m killing the KQ at the moment, so kindly let yourself be eaten by the KQ so I never have to see that ugly face of yours again. Please & Thank you!" Miles, Niles and Giles: These guys are completely pointless, annoying and stupid. Come on, Jagex, can you really not think of anything better to do with your time than make some idiots who don’t know the difference between a fish and a spade? I don't want 50gp for explaining to these overemotional toddlers that 1 + 1 = 2! I have better things to do, thank you very much! Go play in the sand box with your 3-year-old friends and let me work! Pinball: And why do I have to waist my time on this? These are the D-A-R-K ages! There is no pinball! On the KB, you say that the Old Man wants us to have fun on this?: "If you try to leave the table before you've hit ten poles, the trolls guarding the exit - Flippa and Tilt - will whack you back into the game with their clubs, setting your score to zero at the same time. The Mysterious Old Man certainly knows how to make sure everyone has fun!" What the HELL is your problem? It sounds more like a threat to me! "You will have fun, or I will sick my Trolls on you and make you enjoy it!" That is not funny to me! That just antagonizes me further, making me want to rip whoever-came-up-with-pinball'* heart out! After all, us players just want to "make sure everyone has fun!" The only random events that I think we need for fighting macros are the following: Axe/pickaxe head falling off, Ent, Tree Spirit, Rock Golem, River Troll, Poison gas, exploding rock and the big fish. The ones that many people would like to keep include the Mime, Drill Demon, The Maze, Genie and the Strange Plant. Every time you create a new Random Event, you announce it and act like you're giving everyone a big treat or something. The only people who like your stupid Random Events are the newbies who have nothing better to do than wander around aimlessly until they get a Freaky Forester. Sure, it's fun getting it the first day, or when it's still very rare, like full Mime. But the other events are just NOT worth it anymore!"" 100% ownt |

Jagex needs to release new random events because scripts eventully learn how to tackle the random events. Maybe they could make 'replacement' ones instead of just more of them. Getting rid of them would create more rants of people macroing. |

Yeah, it's not the usual dumb rant. I personally think when Jagex releases new randoms, they also take away old randoms. Thus making the gay "frog clothes" and stuff. Were people actually want to have it. |
