What on earth is going on? He’s the third NFL player to be shot in the past 18 months. Washington Redskins player Sean Taylor was killed during a burglary of his home in Miami in November last year. Broncos player Darrent Williams was killed when he was shot in a rented limo after a New Year’s Eve part at a Denver nightclub at the beginning of 2007. Collier, 26, who stands 6-7 and weighs 345 pounds, was shot multiple times and is now said to be in critical condition at Shands Jacksonville Medical Center. The shooting took place at approximately 2:45 a.m. in a middle class neighborhood west of downtown Jacksonville. Collier and a pal, former Jaguars player Kenneth Pettway, were in a car outside an apartment building, waiting for a woman (or women) to meet them, when gunfire broke out. Sheriffs are investigating. Not exactly the best way to start off a season.
