Ok, I am gonna start this post out with, I friggin hate my step brother. He doesn't know how to keep his bloody mouth shut!! Ok, so my step brother, being the smooth talking mofo he is, let it slip to my dad and step mom a couple days ago that I am gay. My dad confronted my sister about it, she told him it was true. I am obviously the last one to know that I am out of the closet to them.
Luckily they took it well. My dad and step mom are cool with it, but my dad and I had this really long talk later about how I am too young and that when I get into college I should give guys another chance, blah blah blah blah. But to get to the point of this post, he told me that he has suspected it for a while, cause he read in a book a really long time ago when he found out he was having twins (I am a twin for those of you who dont know) that twins are more suseptable to being gay. Either one or both of them turn out this way because when the chromosomes split in the uterous and something all scientific that I wont evein begin to understand happens and one of the twins genes gets a lil' screwey......ergo the gayness..........
I just sat and stared at him when he told me this. I have never ever heard of that, and a part of me thinks he may be saying this to make himself feel better, you that whole "its not her fault" type thing, or maybe he is for real and thinks that I am being hard on myself and wants me to know that its ok. I really dont know. So has anyone else heard of this, cause it sounds a little wacked out if you ask me.

I've never heard of that before. I didn't believe it when I first read it... but after doing a little bit of research... and I do mean a little... like 5 minutes... I found a couple sites referring to the study.

One of which - Twin Studies and Homosexuality

A shorter (but the same) version - Fact-O-Rama Homosexuality Among Twins

An in depth discussion of the importance of twin research - The Importance of Twin Research

Hope that helps a little. I actually find it quite interesting... I'll have to look into a bit more.

Flyer,
being a twin doesn't make you more likely to be gay. However, what the research your dad was probably talking about and the articles Riley posted say that if your twin is gay..then you (the other twin) is very likely to be gay. I've heard of this research before because i have to griends who are identical twins and they are both gay. But no, you are not more likely to be gay just because you are a twin. Those studies about twins were conducted to assist in proving that homosexuality is a genetic trait. I hope this is understandable. Here, just in case I'm gonna explain it in grade 5 math terms.

Jonny is a identical twin. Jonny is a homosexual. Jonny's brother then is 52% likely to be gay.

Susie is a fraternal twin. Susie is also a homosexual. Susie's sister is 30% likely to be gay.

Pat is a homosexual with a sister. His sister is only 12% likely to be gay.

Now figure how likely it is your siblings are gay.

My answer to this question is 100% because I know my brother is gay. So I supposed this makes me 12% gay. Yay I'm an honourary lesbian!

Ok, well I am gay, but my sister..........absolutely not. My dad tried to feed me this whole thing about being an identical twin means one or both of you can develope certain traits that makes it more likely. That is what he told me, but I dont really think so. It was just a really weird conversation to have with my dad and like he always does he had to turn it all technical, plus he refuses to accept that I am really that way, he thinks I am too young.......I dont know. But my sister, deffinately not gay. So, I think my dad might be talking out of his ass on this one.
