The Kudos Kid Posts: 38 Group: Members Member #12 Joined: November 24, 2003	i read that second article there awhile back. afterellen.com is such a great site. i think its interesting that she backed away from the lesbian aspect of the film. i probably would have liked the film even more then i did if there had have been a lesbian storyline. because well. keira knightley in any sort of lesbian situation is quite excellent. however, i understand why she didnt do it. i guess sometimes you just have to take the safe route. and if it had have been a lesbian flick there is always the chance it would not have been as big of a success and i never even would have seen the film. and since i really enjoyed it i am just thankful for that.

I can totally picture Keira doing a lesbian storyline, but I'm having a hard time picturing Parminder Nagra doing anything that risque. Its funny though that this topic was brought up because I was watching Bend It Like Beckham last night and decided to put the comentary on, and the Director, made it a point to say how hard it was to make it look like the girls were kissing when they really weren't in that scene with the soccer scout. Either way, I still loved the movie...though now I'm wishing that she had went with the original story

Unregistered	I am in disagreement with all of you and in agreement with whoever wrote that second article. I, for one, don't necessarily think that the story would have been better with a lesbian story-line. I like it how it is. Keira Knightley doesn't do it for me but Parminder Nagra.... grrrr.... as a lesbian would be hot. Heh. But.... I still like the movie as it is and the little bit of homosexuality under-currents works well. I mean, they deal with the issue. Her best friend comes out and she's cool with it. Jules' mom thinks they're gay and Jules is like, so what if I was? And I think the bigger issue is that there is such a non-issue with it.... I don't know. It works.

Nan, The Astronaut's Wife Posts: 267 Group: Members Member #13 Joined: November 24, 2003	To add my two pennies worth, I used to play football when I was younger and most of us girls used to get called dykes who played football, but the guys didnt actually realise that nearly 40% of us that did play where, so It was ironic really, So to put it in the movie might have given them the ammunition they need to say all women footballers are lesbians, lmao, which of course they are not. I like the movie and I think that its time womens football was given more credit in England, we have teams but no where near the amount of fans as you do in the USA. There are some top class players in the USA too, look at Miaa Hamm and Brandi is it? excellent players. Jodes
