So..... Of all of the films that Clea has made, which have you been unhappiest with and why? How would you change them? Or which movies have you pretty much liked but there was something about them you would change? Which aspects of which characters personalities would you change? Me personally.... I am really unhappy with the way the Faculty ended. Talk about selling out! The whole skirt and sweater set with the trade of heavy eyeliner for pretty girl cosmetics and her dyke rep exchanged for a studly football jock boyfriend. Yuck. She should have remained how she was.... you know, not sold out. I don't know.... |

I was really let down with Ghost of Mars and with How to Make a Monster. I loved the ending of Monster but there was not one thing I liked about Ghost. Of course I own both...:-) Linz |

I agree with you Graham about Stokely selling out at the end, other than that Its still one of my fave-ish movies. But I kind of like Ghosts of Mars idea, but the scene let it down, it all looked so fake, for a john carpenter film, something was wrong. So that gets my thumbs down. Jodie |

Well, I thought of it more as a symbol. Like... they were both being things they didn't want to be in order to "fit in". (Although in Stokely's it was kinda the oppisite.) I think the point was that once they came to terms with who they really were, then they were happy. When you look around at the end, everyone was happy... because they were being themselves. I thought it was a good way to end it when I first saw it. I didn't think she sold out, I thought the character came to terms with herself.... even though that's not what we all wanted her to be. I loved 13 Convo's... I wouldn't change a thing. I also loved ID.... the only thing I would have changed about her character is I wouldn't have made her so fucking weak. |

Oh yeh!
I thought the "out casts" were the most interesting ones in the ensemble. When I saw Casey turning into a stud with the freaking Cheerleader I was like "OK, the boy will get some action" but when I saw Stokely wearing a cardigan and making out with the freaking ex-footballer I cringed uncontrollably. I wish Roderiguez hadn't done that. That's the point where you sit down with the writer/s and tell them to try harder. Not a fan of the neat little bundle of nice kids in pastels, having no regrets. |

Have to totally agree with you about writers kate. Sometimes they dont think about the ending of something properly, or discuss it in depth, but you cant always blame them I suppose. Look at a me I wrote a movie script and sent it off to a well known corporation. They offered me such a small price and wanted to change so much of my script it wasnt worth it. It was like I wrote my character to be who she was and the ending to be like it was, why change it for the sake of a few thousand pounds and my name of the bottom of the screen. Its the corporation that will make all the money off my project. Thats why I really like the Sundance Institute because it gives writers and producers the chance to get there movies made how they intended them to be done. It is a great way to start out for everyone. There should be more of these Film corps out there. Also along the lines of the movie talk, I for once would like to see a bad guy or girl get away with something in a movie, just to make a change, not like cop chases crook then shoots him dead in climatic showdown. lmao. Ghost of Mars: Clea's hairstyle - just awful! She looks like a 12-year old child. Smaller guns, those 9mm Barettas are far to big for her small hands, and she's really a bad shooter (as Natasha Henstridge mentioned), good fighting though - so smaller guns, and a little weapons training. She's all that: Too few Clea, she just disappears (bad screenplay actually) after the incident on the party with RLC - how about a little more revenge (would fit better to the bitchy character)? But the movie sucks anyway ... The Laramie Project: Again too few Clea, most of the scenes she's just there, no dialog (which really sucks, 'cause her voice is so amazing). How to make a Monster: I don't like that hairstyle either (see GoM, although a little better), the hairstyle at the end is not necessarily perfect, but I really like the shorter style, 'cause her beautiful face got a lot more attention to it - show it! The whole move is a little trash movie (like GoM), so if you're in the mood for a trash movie you can have a lot of fun! But I'm a Cheerleader: Well, IMO a little to un-critical due to the fact that such kind of stupidity (such camps!) actually exists! But besides that nice. Identity: Again the hairstyle - I don't know why Clea want's to hide her beautiful face with all the fair falling in front of it (see GoM, HtmaM). Besides that Clea is so wasted ... could have been better with all those great co-stars. Girl, Interrupted: Really nice, everything's fine - really interesting and quite good acting, especially when Clea goes nuts (you know, her father is CIA!) - she's so sweet all the time, and then boom! Wow Girl: Too few Clea, but it was just a small role, so what did I expect ... The Astronaut's Wife: Well, if you're into sci-fi ... pessimistic ending though, but only good things to say about Clea ... Wildflowers: Sweet, but not more (or less) ... The Faculty: Very interesting to see, that the dark make-up looks really good, fits nice to Cleas brown eyes. The changing at the end has to be understood in the character (Stokely), who just pretends to be a lesbian (some kind of self-protection), and eventually gets the guy she's a crush on all the time, so no need to pretend anything anymore - so don't get influenced by the way Clea is (or may be) in real life. Defenders - The Payback: Just saw it once on TV, pretty few I can say about it (unfortunately) ... Little Witches: Well, really a trash movie! I would probably haven't seen it (on TV), if Clea wouldn't have complained that much about her (nice) ass anyhow the story is just plain stupid, but the acting is not really that bad - the screenplay sucks, so does the movie ...

Dr. Nick.... I'm just wondering why you're at a board like this and why, or how, actually, do you call yourself a Clea fan when you have like, not a single good thing to say about any of her films? |

Oh, there you got me really wrong - the things I'd change (and that's what this thread is all about, isn't it?) are really small in relation to the good things! Moreover I mentioned good movies! I think you should re-read what I wrote for better understanding - e.g. the fact that I don't like Clea's hairstyle in some movies doesn't make Clea ugly, a bad actress or whatever, and not a bad movie - so sorry for the misunderstandig and please don't over emphasize the term "trash movie"! May be I'd rather call it B-movie or something ...

As for Ghosts of Mars-The film was ok, but would have done alot better if John carpenter had of got someone else to do the set, it looked so fake. And Natasha Henstridge I feel was so poor as the lead character anyway. Clea should have been giving more range in this role, to show what she can do, as for the guns, come on, thats nit picking. What do you want, Terminator 3 guns. Lmao. Jodie I feel to see her at her best someone needs to take the bull by the horns and put Clea in the lead role, forget the Icons and Image sellers, give Clea the goods to work with that she deserves and she will not let you or her fans down. No - as I said smaller guns! Not bigger ones, or what do you call "Terminator 3 guns"?

Totally, Jodes - In a way I am happy to see Clea in small roles at the moment, because it leads me to believe that she has turned down bigger (but poorer quality) offers and she is waiting for the perfect part, same as us. |

Ok Dr Nick, Get ya point, but still I think Clea's shooting wasnt that bad, maybe the way they were pretty out numbered was a bit crazy anyway, Like I laugh when Ice Cube gets two guns and runs along shooting hell for leather, completly missing half the safety pinned monsters, which I actually like.lol. Its a kewl movie, its its own way, but not a patch on Vampires or assault on precinct 13. Jodes (p.s kate, I like it.)

Well, as I already mentioned it wasn't my intention to emphasize any negative points in such a way - I just wanted to tell where I see a possible improvement, so Clea could look even better in her role same goes for Clea's shooting in the Faculty, but that was while being on drugs, so it doesn't count
Yes, that's funny - but that's Hollywood. Where else can we see bullet-proof tables 'n stuff so why not shooting two guns simultaneously ... missing most of the targets is quite realistic though
