New Music; And a hot Madonna/Britney debate... LOL

This is in reply to Jodie's last post but I decided to make a new thread so people that didn't read the Yeah post cuz they aren't fans or whatever could find this.

So. I haven't bought the new Pink one yet. I was gonna get it when it first came out but I work at Wal*Mart and the damn thing was edited so then I went to Target and it was't still on sale. But I'm gonna get it this week, I think.

I bought the new Britney and all I have to say is, eh. It's alright. (If Riley reads this, she's gonna call my shit cuz I told her I loved it! And I did, for a bit but it got old fast) It's got some alright songs but it's mainly just her like, breathing over really heavy hip hop beats. It's not even like singing. She is just like Madonna. JUST like Madonna. Here's why. When Madonna and Britney both came out as new artists, young girls idolized them, dressed like them, the whole bit. Grown-ups like, feared their intense sexuality. Both Madonna and Britney made a big ol' stir, creating lots of publicity and controversy. Which is a good thing for their careers because neither of them can really sing. In fact, if Madonna and Britney didn't create so much controversy and publicity, I doubt either of them would have made a second album even. They have both made movies that were absolute flops. And that is that. So it wasn't really a hot debate but.... eh.

Oooh, I'm really looking forward to the new Alicia Keys CD that's coming out. Yeah! Nelly Furtado has a new one out. I have her first one and I really liked it but the second got really bad reviews so I haven't checked it out at all. Has anyone?

Alright. That's it for me, for right now. :P

Yes... you were trying to tell me that Britney shit was the next best thing to sliced bread...

However, on a different note (no pun intended)...

I just bought the Outkast CD, Speakerbox. It took me a while to cave and get it because I'm not a huge rap person anymore, and I wanted to make sure it was worth my while. Well, I love it... jam everywhere I'm going!

I also bought the Brand New CD, Deja Entendu. They were on tour with Dashboard, and I had no idea who they were. I saw the video for "The Quiet Things That No One Ever Knows" on IMC (Indy Music Channel) and fell in love. The CD is great, words are kinda fucked up... but that makes it all the better for me.

I picked up Dispatch, Bang Bang... an oldie but a goodie. Sad part, I heard they broke up... always seems to happen to the bands that I LOVE!!!

I'm looking into buying the Year of the Spider (Cold). Another band I saw opening at a concert (Evanesence) and had no idea who they were. But I love the song "Stupid Girl" and just can't get enough of it!! If anyone has the CD and is willing to let me know if it's worth the 12 bucks I'd be grateful!

Well, that's all I got. Latro

first, i won't get into the britney/madonna thing, cause, well... i just don't like britney's sluttiness attitude.

as for other artists, Pink's new CD and Sarah McLachlan's Afterglow are on my "Presents to Buy for Myself" Christmas Shopping List...
but i'm sure there will be more once i get to the store and see all the good ones (that i can't aford :ermm: )

excellent choices riley. the new outkast and brand new are both great albums.

and the new nelly furtado one is actually quite impressive. i was in love with her first album and there is no doubt that it is still her best. but folklore is actually really good.

other than that i have been listening to a lot of tegan and sara and metric. as usual. if you guys have not heard of metric. you should definitely check them out. their album is called old world underground, where are you now? and it is fantastic.

Sarah McLachlan's album is good, I got that one today. I listened to Nelly Furtado's and Alicia Keys in the music store and they are equally good but I would give Alicia the edge personally.Im still Loving The Alex Parks Cd more than the britney one I wasted money on at the moment.
good thread

i really like alex parks. i never watched the show she was on. because i never got it. but i was obviously interested when i heard about an openly gay singer winning such a competition. because im just really gay like that. but anyway. i downloaded some of her stuff and i really enjoy it. i read that she only did the show because just before she was to leave she found her girlfriend in bed with another girl. ouch. anyway. the point of that long and boring rant was to say that she is definitely talented and i think i am going to see about getting her album.

also. the new sarah mclachlan album is great too. i have not heard any of alicia keys' new stuff. i dont think i would buy her album but i might check it out just in case.

anyone here a holly mcnarland fan? she just released a dvd and has a new track called so cold. its great.

I have the new Sarah CD. It is a great one. Tomorrow I'm getting the new Alicia CD. Yey! I'm very excited. I want the new Pink really bad but I'm not sure I can afford it. I'm a lil on the broke side right now. Heh. Anyone listen to Dido? I wasn't ever crazy about her but I like her new White Flag song and wonder if the album is worth anything?

Question about an old album. I burned the Missundaztood album when it first came out and noticed in the song 18 Wheeler she doesn't say the word fuck. I was like, hmmm. Maybe she bought the edited CD. Well, last week, I invested in the album itself cuz mine had gotten scratched. I was careful to make sure it wasn't edited or anything but the word fuck still does not appear. I was like what the fuck!? Secondly, the song Misery that she does with Steven Tyler. I LOOOOOVE that song! On the burnt copy of the album that I have, Pink sings almost the entire song. But on the new album I just bought, Steven Tyler sings the second verse, I guess I'd say. After he whispers "You are a silly girl" or something that sounds like that. And then he sings I'd say 50% of the rest of the song, instead of just like, back-up like he does on the first version I have. So WHAT THE FUCK IS THAT? It's like two completely different versions of the song. If you have the CD, what version fo you have? It's trippin' me out. LOL.

Firstly I have the new Dido album but I really do prefer her debut album, just a personal preference I suppose but I love the songs white flag and life for rent.Secondly The version Of Missunderstood that I have does also Have beep out swearing but im sure ya can still hear it.lol, if not in my own mind. And Steven Tyler sings Prolly 50/50 in the song Misery which I too like.
Also has anyone heard if Kate Melua's album-call off the search is any good?
Thanks
Jodie :P

How did I not know about Metric before? They please me greatly.

(by the way J, I finally found a copy of 'This is Everything' - liking it)
For me though, it's like I've given birth to my own baby girl. You know? Only she's, like, a big giant girl who smokes and says "shit" a lot.
