So here is the list I've been using for my 'nids lately. So far the record is 3-0-1 with my loss going to Lauby's Mechdar, because I got greedy at the end of the game and left an objective open to go kill stuff.

HQ
Hive Tyrant- bonesword/lashwhip; heavy venom cannon; hive commander 220
~Tyrant guard 60

Troops
10x Termagants- fleshborers 50

Tervigon- cluster spines; adrenal glands, toxin sacs catalyst 195

EL33T
2x Zoanthropes- mycetic spore venom cannon 170

Heavy
Mawloc 170
Mawloc 170

In spite of being a little skeptical about how this would perform, since it splits off a semi-weak chunk of the force to deep strike (zoanthropes and mawlocs), I have been pretty happy so far. The back field units have enough firepower to do some shooting while my deep strikers are able to land, almost atomatically, on turn 2 due to the tyran's giving +2 to my reserves roll. The zoanthropes then go about exploding some vehicles when they arrive. after this, they will either get shot to shit, or tarpit an assault squad with their 3+ inv saves. The mawlocs show up and sometimes eat something, but mostly just get in your opponents way to block LOS and charges, while the tervigons advance, pooping out termagants on objectives and buffing my other stuff. the tyrants advance too shooting/psykering until they hit CC and tear vehicles or characters apart.

Still looking at ways to expand this up to 2000 points. I'm thinking deatleaper will be invovled. since he gives a -d3 LD to one enemy independent character model he will be useful in nerfing anybody w/ a psychic hood, to allow all 8 of my psykers to do their thangs.

Bwahahahaha. You totally did get greedy. Also, there was the super dick move of refusing to have anything on the board so I could play my own reserve games.

Not entirely sold on deathleaper. He's definitely a toolbox and a potential force multiplier. he's certainly neat and has high survivability but at 1750 points but I don't think he brings enough killyness to the list. I think 140 points is a lot to spend to maybe, possibly fuck with one psychic hood.

Also, you can't get much else for the 110 points you have left.
He can go in at 2k with some much needed tyrant guards or Maybe some more troop choices for objective scoring. Dunno.

Other ideas include:

grab a third mawloc and some hive guard. I fell like more big nasties and more survivability are a good overall theme to play with when it comes to MC heavy lists.

Maybe go the warrior route and get a ton of scoring nasties that are also synapse creatures.

Ultimately, the long term question is whether or not your gonna get FAQed in the ass on hive commander.

well I sure hope I don't get faq'd.

I'm actually thinking that spare points may best be spent on ravenors, to increase the DS threat. 180 points will get 2 small units of them. Plus, the models are kinda fun and almost as topheavy as zoanthropes, so I could keep that theme going :)

IF I do get faqed, that 2nd tyrant is getting scrapped for a pair of harpies. That gives me more MCs on the table, and more firepower on the board at the beginning of the game. Plus they wouldn't have to rely on arriving via deep strike
