new warhammer 40 k supplement "battle missions" is due out in march. it will include 30+ missions including: assassination, breakthrough, last stand, and so on. it is also to be backed up by releases for IG, marines, and orks. not sure what that means for orks and SMs, but I'm sure it involves special characters, as I don't think those are all out yet. hopefully it might mean reissuing some vehicles (trax/buggies) for orks that have old minis and looks awful, but haven't heard anything. there are rumors of xenos terrain kits on the horizon, though, so there may be an ork shanty town in a box kit to support the release, since terrain is becoming an increasingly big part of gw's market share. I can guarantee you that the IG will be getting more artillery options though. We saw the CAD plans for what looked like a medusa/bombard kit at gamesday chicago at jervis' booth in july. this is just me hoping, but it would be nice to finish out releasing all of the leman russ varients. there are quite a few characters that still need to be released yet as well. have also heard rumors of cadian rough riders for quite a while now, so that could be in the stars. who knows? |

if you got the "incoming" e-mail, you'll see a pic of catachans being attacked by 'nids. if you look really closely, you can see that the basilisk has the same side skirts as the new hellhound kit. this means it's very likely that the new multi-artillery kit will be releasing with battle missions. the collosus, basilisk, and medusa should all have just about the same components, and could likely be achieved using a multi-piece gun like in the shadowlord/sword kit to economize space. not sure if the griffon could be built from this, but here's hoping. another source has also postulated that a chimera re-release and or/ a hydra/manticore kit may be due out as well. fingers totally crossed on that last one I really need another manticore and i've been wanting hydras for a little while now. fw prices on those two kits are obscene, though, because the weapons mounts are big.

forgot, plastic storm trooper greens were seen a while back for IG, like before the new 'dex even came out. this would be a likely release as well. SMs could be getting a master of the forge and there are lots of blind rumors floating out about repacking some basic kits with more bits or a plastic venerable dreadnought. Orks will likely get a metal kit turned to plastic (kommandos being the most likely suspect). |
