Taken from my email blast:

This will be the first time ever that the Beastmen have had their own, completely stand-alone, army list. The forthcoming Warhammer Armies: Beastmen is full of twisted monsters old and new, and an all-new lore of magic. The Beastmen are the original inhabitants of the Old World: in February 2010 they come to reclaim it from the hands of Men.

This looks cool as hell! I will hold off a little longer and see what these bad boys have to offer. I've always had a soft spot for the goatdudes :)

they were rumored for next year, but to already have the artwork sorted out for the 'dex means it's probably closer than those rumors thought.

I can't wait either. Hopefully some more plastics, and a decent book. I'd take em over skaven at this point for my second army in WFB just from looks alone.

Nice, its such a shame that you no longer get to field them in a 40k army/there are no new rules for them. They used to be alright back in 2nd edition nestled in amongst the cultists in the chaos space marine codex. I can still hope they'll bring them back one day.

Myself and Lord Samael frequently talk about the old Imperial Guard Beastmen as well. It was a cool concept. Shame they never went further with it.

Siege of Vraks II has beastmen in it in the chaos army list. Vraks III might have something similar, but 2+ months after ordering, I still don't have the damn book, so I couldn't tell you. I believe the book is nurgle oriented though, so I doubt it has beastmen.

The unfortunate thing is that the lists in all of the Vraks books still follow the 4th ed guard codex style/points costs. hopefully a faq will fix this soon.

but are they beastmen armed with weapons? like, guns? or are they just spear chuckers? that would suck.

Bloodgor Beastmen attack squad- 6 points a pop, T4, BS2, LD6 with all other stats human normal. you get furious charge and they can rally even if below 1/2 strength. comes with 2x CCW, but you can swap out 1 CCW for lasgun, laspistol, or autogun (which is same stats as lasgun and basically irrelevant). "packmaster" is 12 points and gives extra LD and A. he may carry ccwx2 or swap for laspistol or plasma pistol.

not a bad unit all in all, if you are going CC heavy, but low strength hurts a bit. They can be fielded in units of 20, though, so you would get 80 attacks on the charge (81 w/ a packmaster), which is kinda frightening. For the points, they actually stack up pretty favorably to berzerkers. Bad armor save and crap LD, but you can field scads of them for dirt cheap. a unit of 20 would only set you back 120 points or 140 points with laspistols (the only option worth taking IMO).

It's a shame that the points costs for other shit in the Vraks books are so outdated. The chaos lists are fun, and gives Chaos marine players options akin to the inquisition, allowing you to mix standard guard units with marines, tzeentch marines, or berzerkers depending on the list. some nice unique units as well (ogyn that aren't totally crap) and hounds of xaphan are pretty coool. you also can take hell talons and hell blades as heavy choices, which is sweet as hell.

No Beastmen in Vraks III, but lots of good Nurgly stuff in there and rules for all the FW Chaos stuff that has not had rules published previously.

There is, however, an Apocalypse datasheet perfect for DFM's dreadnought spam. There's another one involving something like 13 Blood Slaughterers, and one with 15 Blight Drones. They're like 75 bucks a piece or something? Lol, keep dreaming, kids. The 6 Titan datasheet just made me laugh.

I'll bring my Vraks III this weekend, I can't tell if the Nurlge Militia list is based off the 4th ed codex or 5th. It definitely has marines and flyers in it though.

sorry they fixed the armored company list. elysians fix is me wishlisting for the next IA book. regardless, they now have a precedent of fixing army lists to reflect new points totals. so dear FW, please fix the fucking vraks lists so that they are playable.
