Once again, it wasnt the night the Winnipeg Blue Bombers offence was looking for. Richard Sherman Jersey . But there may have been one silver lining in the teams 25-22 loss to the Toronto Argonauts on Wednesday - the ground game. In a year of breakout running backs, former Indianapolis Colt and Washington Redskin Chad Simpson may be the next big one. But Simpson said he isnt looking to be just the next Kory Sheets or Chevon Walker. "Im trying to be Chad Simpson," he said after the the game. "I dont want to be those guys; Im a totally different guy. I want to bring Chad Simpson to the CFL." Simpson had to convince head coach Paul LaPolice he was sufficiently recovered from a leg injury and ready to go prior to the game. And LaPolice voiced his praise for him after the game, calling the first-year player a talented back. Simpson rushed for 91 yards on 15 carries while adding 31 receiving yards. The 26-year-old also opened up the passing game for Winnipeg with Torontos defence keying on him more. And while his stats were impressive, Simpson graded his game solely on the teams final result. "I was brought here to win," he said. "Thats why I came, to help the team. Its about winning and we didnt do that so my performance wasnt good enough." Simpson set the single-season rushing record at Morgan State with 1,402 yards before signing with the Colts in 2008. In 25 games over two seasons with Indianapolis, the Miami native rushed for 147 yards and three touchdowns. He also played three games with the Redskins in 2010 returning kicks prior to signing with the Bombers this off-season. Wednesday was Simpsons first game of the season after missing the first three with an unspecified leg injury. He said there were both positives and negatives to the long layoff – he had much fresher legs than most of his teammates coming off a short week, but also had trouble jumping right into a full workload after the layoff. The Bombers held him out for some offensive series in the second half, but Simpson said it was nothing serious. "Im good - I was cramped up a bit," he explained. "Being out for three weeks then getting fed like that." "(It was because of) cramping, and not being used to all the carries in a while." Simpson said moving forward, he is ready to contribute on a regular basis and still thinks the Bombers have time to right the ship. "Losing four games is not good," said Simpson. "Were going to pull it together; I saw progress, and thats the most important thing. And its not too late; were still chasing that Grey Cup." Covello shot a 66 to erase a four-shot deficit behind Killmer, who shot a 70 as both players moved to 13 under after three rounds. Chris Clemons Jersey . Then the All-Star whos always quick to needle Tim Duncan about his age finally acknowledged his own. "Im old. Used," said Parker, laughing. Leon Washington Womens Jersey . Coyotes general manager Don Maloney gave an update to the Arizona Republics website, azcentral.com, on Wednesday. "Hes better," Maloney said. "Our understanding is hell be out of ICU later (Wednesday).GLENEAGLES -- Paul Lawrie of Scotland shot a 5-under 67 in the third round of the Johnnie Walker Championship at Gleneagles on Saturday to take a one-stroke lead. Lawries 12-under 204 puts him one ahead of Frenchman Romain Wattel, who shot a 9-under 63 to move into contention. Stephen Gallacher (65) of Scotland is another two shots back. Lawrie, who will be making his Ryder Cup return next month after a 13-year absence, managed seven birdies in his round with just two bogeys in pursuit of his second Tour title of the year. "Ive never been asked to answer so many questions in my life, so I must be doing something right," Lawrie said. "But I played very good today and gave myself a lot of chances with only two poor shots all day, and probably deserve five under." Earlier this year, Lawrie won his second Qatar Masters title, a win that sent him to second on the European Ryder Cup points table. He has been among the automatic qualifiers ever since. "Since being confirmed in the side this week has been a lot easier as the Ryder Cup has definitely been on my mind quite a bit, and its impossible for it not to be," he said. "But the big difference this week is that I have just been working on my rhythm again and Im starting to stripe the ball as I was doing at the start of the year. "So because of all the stuff that has been going on that has been lost a little but if I can play well tomorrow and hopefully with it would be huge to have two wins in a Ryder Cup year." If Lawrie hangs on, it will be the third straight success for a member of Jose Maria ;Olazabals team following wins in the PGA Championship by Rory McIlroy two weeks ago and Sergio Garcias triumph last week at the Wyndham Championship. Jon Ryan Womens Jersey. Wattel shot 10 birdies in his 9-under 63 as the 21-year old Frenchman seeks his maiden Tour success. The Montpellier born Wattels round also is his lowest European Tour score by two strokes since he recorded a 65 in last years South African Open. "Every time you go low in a round you enjoy it but I especially enjoyed todays round because this is a tough golf course," said Wattel. "I needed a really good score to be back in the tournament and thats what I did so I am really happy." Belgiums Nicolas Colsaerts, despite birdies on his opening two holes, appears likely to require a Ryder Cup wildcard pick after slipping six shots behind Lawrie with a 1-under 71. "I am a little disappointed as I started very, very good, and I was feeling very well but went through a difficult patch at eight, nine and 10 but did finish in good fashion," he said. "But I am now going to have no choice tomorrow. I still showed passion. I still showed that I play with my guts, and you know, Im just fighting like a dog. "I have no idea what I need to do tomorrow. My strategy is to shoot the best round of my career, plain and simple." Olazabal is due to announce his two wildcard picks at 1100 GMT Monday, and Colsaerts has planned a distraction to take his mind off the subject. "I have some fly fishing set for Monday morning and that will give me something else to think about," he said. ' ' ' |
