GREEN BAY, Wis. Mark Sanchez Jersey . -- The Green Bay Packers rattled and robbed Jay Cutler while Aaron Rodgers and Co. sputtered at times against the stout Chicago Bears defence. So with all those stars on the field for the NFLs most storied rivalry, the biggest play of the day was a gutsy call for a perfectly executed fake field goal in Green Bays 23-10 victory at Lambeau Field on Thursday. With the Packers lined up for a field goal late in the second quarter, punter Tim Masthay flipped the ball to backup tight end Tom Crabtree, who streaked into the end zone. Watching from the sideline, Rodgers thought something went wrong. "I saw Crabby running out the back side, I couldnt believe it," Rodgers said. "Thats a gutsy call. A gutsy call. Youve got to score on that." The Packers defence did the rest. Cutler threw four interceptions, including a pair to Tramon Williams. Facing a fierce pass rush all night, Cutler was sacked seven times, including 3 1/2 for Clay Matthews. New Bears wide receiver Brandon Marshall was held to two catches for 24 yards. It was an impressive rebound from an unsettling season-opening loss to San Francisco. "We got kicked in the (rear end) four days ago," Packers coach Mike McCarthy said. "And we were motivated." While the Packers are known for their high-octane offence, McCarthy said hed rather have his team be known for its defence -- and Matthews certainly made an impression. "I thought Clay was off the charts, just with the energy and production that he brought," McCarthy said. Thursdays game was a huge step backward for the Bears, who were filled with confidence after steamrolling Indianapolis in their opener. "Of course it was a disappointing effort," Bears coach Lovie Smith said. "I thought we would play better. Were better than we showed tonight." The Bears also lost running back Matt Forte to an ankle injury. Smith said it wasnt clear how severe the injury was. "Maybe were not as good as we thought we were," linebacker Brian Urlacher said. "Weve got a long ways to go." Rodgers finished the game 22 of 32 for 219 yards with a touchdown and an interception. The touchdown went to Donald Driver, who barely played in the loss to San Francisco. Driver did a celebratory dance in the end zone, recalling his stint on the "Dancing With the Stars" reality television show. Rodgers got roughed up, too, getting sacked five times. Green Bay got a scare when the NFL MVP appeared to hurt his right arm early in the game, but he stayed in. Cutler was 11 for 27 for 126 yards, and visibly expressed his frustration throughout the game. "If they want a quarterback that doesnt care, they can find somebody else," Cutler said. Cutler threw a late touchdown to Kellen Davis, cutting the lead to 23-10 with 6:49 remaining. But the Bears couldnt mount a comeback as Matthews and the Packers kept turning up the heat. Earlier in the week, a confident Cutler wished the Packers defensive backs "good luck" in trying to match up physically with a new-look wide receiver corps led by Marshall. Stalked by Williams for much of the night, Marshall didnt see much of the ball. And he couldnt convert his one big opportunity, dropping a potential touchdown in the third quarter. Forte provided much of what little offence the Bears could muster before leaving the game in the third. He appeared to twist his right ankle while being tackled by Charles Woodson. Mason Crosby hit three field goals for Green Bay, including a 54-yarder in the fourth quarter. The biggest play of the night, though, came from the unlikely tandem of Masthay and Crabtree. With the Packers facing fourth-and-26 on the Chicago 27 late in the second quarter, Masthay, the punter who also functions as the holder on field goals, and Crosby appeared to line up for a field goal attempt. But Masthay took the snap and flipped the ball to Crabtree, who ran through a huge hole and streaked all the way to the end zone. McCarthy said the Packers have been working on the fake field goal play for two or three years, although he acknowledged it wasnt the ideal situation to bring it out. "I was trying to send our team a message when I did call it," McCarthy said. "And, frankly, I would have been fine with the field position." Cutler then threw an interception to Williams near midfield with just over a minute left and the play was upheld on a replay review, giving the Packers one last chance to score. Rodgers marched the Packers into scoring range, and Crosby hit a 35-yard field goal. Marshall missed a huge opportunity early in the third, when Cutler found him streaking wide open in the end zone -- but the wide receiver couldnt haul it in, and the Bears had to settle for a 45-yard field goal by Robbie Gould that cut the lead to 13-3. Cutler threw his second interception of the night late in the third, this time to Woodson, and the Packers appeared poised to score when Charles Tillman punched the ball away from Jermichael Finley and recovered the ball for the Bears. NOTES: Packers wide receiver Greg Jennings was inactive with a groin injury. ... Tillman played despite a shin injury, and Urlacher played his second straight game after having knee surgery during training camp. ... Thursdays attendance was 70,543. Ray Rice Jersey .8 seconds left, and the sixth-ranked Wake Forest Demon Deacons made sure Dukes stay atop the rankings would be a short one, dealing the Blue Devils a 70-68 defeat at Lawrence Joel Coliseum. Dexter McCluster Jersey . -- The next time Aaron Rodgers steps under centre, it will have been 20 days since he last played for the Green Bay Packers. Aaron Hernandez Jersey . -- Miami Dolphins coach Joe Philbin says the decision to release six-time Pro Bowl receiver Chad Johnson wasnt based on any single incident and wasnt made to send a message. Santonio Holmes Jersey . Marco Reus wore a special boot after breaking the little toe on his left foot last month and set up the only goal in the fifth minute with an incisive ball for Patrick Herrmann to score through Christian Wetklos legs. Andre Johnson Jersey . Perhaps more than anyone, they know what it feels like to be on an extended losing streak -- 12 in a row, in the Cubs case. SAN FRANCISCO -- Ozzie Guillen sure could use a lopsided game to bring his blood pressure down. At least his Miami Marlins left San Francisco with a nice winning streak only a few days after being booed in their home ballpark. Hanley Ramirez drove in a pair of runs without a hit to back Anibal Sanchezs first win in four starts, and the Marlins rebounded from a rough stretch for a 3-2 victory over the Giants on Thursday and a three-game sweep. "A win is a win, especially the way that we have been playing," Guillen said. "Well take every win. Weve got to get better. Its very hard for our pitching staff to go out there and shut people down every day. At least we got people on base. Its more fun that way. Id rather have people on base than nobody on base. We cannot get the big hit to open a game. Every time we have people on base something happens to shut down and we dont have the big hit to rally. Its getting old." Giancarlo Stanton doubled in the seventh after he homered in three of his previous four games. Stanton has nine doubles and four home runs in 10 career games in the Giants waterfront ballpark. A 3,000-mile trek cross-country and a change of scenery seems to have done the trick for the rebounding Marlins, who had lost eight of nine and were booed in their new home stadium before starting this series -- the clubs second three-game sweep at AT&T Park in as many visits. "To come here and win all three games was great for us," shortstop Jose Reyes said. "Were playing good as a team now. Were playing very good defence. A couple weeks ago we didnt play too good of defence. We just need to learn from the three wins we had here and continue to play together as a team. If were able to do that, were going to compete in our division." Edward Mujica worked the ninth for his first save in two chances on a day closer Heath Bell wasnt available after pitching in three straight games. The Marlins won their seventh in a row in San Francisco, taking all three in this series by one run, including 3-2 in 10 innings Wednesday night. Sanchez (2-0) allowed one run on seven hits, struck out five and walked one in seven innings. He snapped a three-start stretch in which he didnt earn a decision, including a career-best 14-strikeout performance last Saturdays 3-2 home win agaainst Arizona. Mario Williams Jersey. Omar Infante and Brett Hayes each had three hits for the Marlins, though Guillen is demanding more from his lineup in key situations. "There are a lot of opportunities and were not taking advantage," Guillen said. "If we continue like that, the pitching staff is going to break down sooner or later." Melky Cabrera had two hits and the Giants scored their only run on his double-play grounder in the sixth. The Giants received tough news before the game when slugger and top hitter Pablo Sandoval was lost to a broken bone in his left hand that will require surgery Friday. Hes expected to miss 4 to 6 weeks. "Today it wasnt Pablo. We made some mistakes," manager Bruce Bochy said. "Were hurting ourselves more than anything. We cant get a productive out." San Francisco has scored three or fewer runs in eight of its 12 home games and has not scored more than five runs in any of its games at AT&T Park. Giants starter Ryan Vogelsong (0-2) was tagged for eight hits in seven innings, struck out five and walked four while throwing 116 pitches. The Giants had runners on second and third in the seventh but couldnt convert, and they are 9 for 48 (.188) with runners in scoring position over the past six games. San Francisco went 0 for 5 Thursday. "Everybody has to chip in and play harder. Its going to be harder to win every game," Brandon Belt said. Conor Gillaspie, promoted from Triple-A Fresno to replace Sandoval, went 1 for 3 batting second as Angel Pagan dropped from leadoff to the No. 5 hole as the Giants dealt with the big blow of losing their All-Star slugger. Pagan extended his career-best hitting streak to 17 games with a leadoff single in the seventh. NOTES: Reyes and Emilio Bonifacio pulled off a double steal in the eighth. ... The struggling Bell is still the Marlins closer, according to Guillen -- for now, anyway. ... The Giants have 28 errors, second in the majors to San Diegos 29. ... Pagan batted fifth for the first time this season. He also hit sixth once but otherwise had been in the leadoff of No. 2 hole the rest of the time. ... All four of Vogelsongs starts have been afternoon games. ... Bochy was to be honoured Thursday night by the American Leadership Forum in nearby Mountain View. ' ' '
